Fert recipe / schedule ?

Hey anyone, I need some help with a fert recipe and schedule. I've got 8 Indica bagsed plants just starting the flowering cycle, and I've got Foxfarm Bigbloom, Pureblend Grow, Earthjuice and Superthrive to work with. I'm using 400W HPS in soil. I plan on using BOG's recipe from his Sticky (Thanks, BOG !!), but I would like some other ideas too. Thanks---mIu4ea :canabis:

I just burned some by over fert-ing so now I'm only hitting once or twice at the most around 2-4 weeks with blooming nutes & epson salt a week or 2 before finish. And checking the water ph every few weeks to make sure I'm using enough ph down. Hope this helps.

Earthjuice Bloom is pretty acidic if used fresh. 1/4 strenght will send my pH 8 tap water down to 3.2   . Mix it up and then aerate / bubble it for a day, Bog mentions it in his tutorial. It will be much less acidic and easier to correct.

This had me confused last week when I mixed up a batch of 1/4 str nutes, and by the time I pHed them the ppm was 1200!!! I retraced my steps checking pH and ppms along the way, it took 800 ppm pH up to correct. I dumped and setup everything but the pH last night, bubbled it, 24 hours later pH is 4.8. Much easier to work with, takes much less pH up.

Good luck! :joint:

I appreciate the feedback, Mr. GJ---I'll watch the PH. I just changed to a 600W HPS and lightrail system, so that should improve my harvest. The last total was 4.5 Ozs. for 4 WW , and all the buds were small and light. Not bad for my 2nd crop, but I can improve. I've got a lot to learn ! Thanks again for your time, and good growin' to ya !! :joint: ---mIu4ea

My pleasure - just passing it on. I'm still on my first grow  That 600 HPS and light rail will make the girls explode...

If you haven't seen it, you should chekc out Caprichoso's LST tutorial thread http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=6090 .Following his advice I have 6+ colas per plant on my current grow - only 30 day veg.

C ya round!

I have never seen lightrails up the gram per watt ratio...

you are better off with a hood that fits your garden...

Just my 2 cents...

I know it's fun to mix in a bunch of nutes and enhancers...I've been a victim of this...hoping for some giant bud plants...but if you go overboard, catastrophy can occur. pH drop out is devistating...I lost a lot of time and will lose yield because of it...I have since been alot more liberal...

Probably want more bloom nutes soon...NPK; less N more PK. I like PB Org. Bloom 5-5-10(sometimes with a little EJ Bloom 0-30-10), little Top Max, little epsom salts, GH Diamond Nectar fulvic acids. Near the end of bloom(3 weeks) I'll switch to GH Kool Bloom 2-45-28 for ferts. Then flush them with Botanicare Clearex Salt Leaching Solution before harvest.

Growdoc steered me clear of Superthrive. I still will use a tiny amount for transplants. if you just want use what you have, mix the PB Grow 10-5-10 with the FF Big Bloom 0.1-30-7...more PB early on...straight FFBB near the end, last two weeks water only. Hope this helps some. Not that I'm the best here at nutes...it's just what I would do, given what you have on hand

Hey packin2puff---Thanks for the info, but I don't understand the problem with Superthrive ? I am following BOG's sticky, where he uses Superthrive once in early flower to promote bud sites. What is your opinion of this??--mIu4ea

:bow:Growdoc was talking about the inconsistancy of Superthrive, in that it is so potent in very small doses, unpredictable reactions may occur. He has more experience then I do. I still use it for transplants, just a couple of drops per gal. Remember too that  BOG likes to grow some big ass bushes. :smoker:
:monkeyeat MGJ knows a bit about Superthrive and how it can linger for a long time. I've read BOG's thread which kinda got me into Superthrive in the first place. IMHO I think it has it's place, but I would be more liberal than going crazy with it.  BOG using it once in early flower kinda goes with all of this. I think he is trying to develop a very complex root system, just prior to flower production. Many here know more than I do and you'll find very good growers still disagree about lots of methods and theories :fight:

Just when you think you got it all figured out.. :wallbash:

Bog's strenght SuperThrive at start of flower is way too hot to use earlier. My water comes out of the tap at pH8, when I want to use ST I add it to a gal a few drops at a time until the pH just starts to drop. If I add more than this the pH then drops like a stone. :bigeye: I find this strenght gives me plenty of root stimulation.

Eyeballing how much to add for my cloning bubbler didn't work. Roots never formed. If I measure as above, I get great root formation after 7-10 days.

FWIW! :joint:

Hey Mr. GJ, Thanks for the info on the ST. I've only used it once at the start of flowering, so I should be OK. The 600 W HPS on the light-rail sure seems to be firin' up the girls. The extra 200 Watts sure makes a difference(along with good nutes) ! Good growin' to ya, and thanks again !!---mIu4ea

Hey mIu4ea
My pleasure man, you should be set on the ST. Yeah, 600 HPS on a light mover really grabs the girls' attention - I'm running the same light setup in a 4x3' footprint. With the mover I can get the light down to 5-9" and keep the lighting sweet spot nice and big. You're gonna enjoy a nice fat harvest!

Thanks for the good wishes - stop by my first grow thread sometime - cookin 6 lst'ed trainwrecks, 3.5 weeks to go.

packn - thanks for the kind words my friend!!!!! :friends:
