Porsche does not have a car in GT-1, so.......you wont see it. RS 4.0 is a go, over 500 hp in a normally aspirated 6 cylinder will be impressive.
The mid engine Cayman platform will always be overshadowed by the 911, a shame, really, all due to the marketing department.

Props to Ford on the new Boss Mustang......now can you get a rear seat delete and a roll cage.....!

Bobby you are missing my point entirely.. I wasn't holding up a stock 911 as the end-all-be-all.. but it's certainly not crap.

Just saying that their development team and select engineers deserve my money more than the other two companies IMO.

But for now I'll just agree with you that it's overpriced and mostly douchebags drive them.

Outdated is highly questionable as even an 80's 911 is still fun as hell to drive.

Now I'll add that Ferraris cost way more than a Porsche, and that the loudest douchebags drive Fords.

I dunno about that. Take a modern Mustang GT and ship to Sean Hyland Motorsports for a few tweaks for not really that much money and will stomp on most anything out there for a fraction of the cost.

If those Ford douchebags had more money many would probably drive a Porsche or Ferrari.

Saw some dyno runs and was waiting for the thing to jump off...lol. I had to look into it more and seems a GTR with their Alpha 9 bolt on package and a street tune would make for one hell of a car. Gotta love AWD with all that horsepower. I'd take it over Shelby's new juiced up Cobra any day of the week.

i'd go with the porsche no doubt. german engineering, and not nearly the price of ferrari. ferrari's are great machines, but too pricey. modern mustangs are crap, the suspension is a joke
why do most"tuned" japanese cars sound like a bunch of bees in a tin can. it always makes me laugh my ass off whenever i hear them, it never gets old. that reason alone, i could never own one.
the gtr is one badass car though, i would proudly drive that if someone gave it to me, but i would never buy it

The GT3 being the cheapest, at 3 times the cost of the Boss 302.

The 911 is a outdated platform. Hanging the engine over the rear end, is a bad idea. Will they change? No. So they will be forced to sell 160k cars that can not compete with a car half as much. German engineering indeed.

Ferraris are for panty chasers. Plain and simple. Unless you have a old school one.

To not realize how potent the new mustang Boss 302 is as a track car, is a exercise in denial. And I would like to know who makes a better truck than this....

If i can be completely honest, im wondering why the GTR is at #12 if that machine is as much of the end-all be-all of sportscar competition as everyone makes it out to be.

1,100 hp is cool and all, but it's been done without the use of twin turbos for the better part of last century. Not to mention, technology invented 10-15 years before Nissan was known as Nissan.

Again, i'm not trying to spitball anything. Im just curious as to why someone's gotta make a GTR thread out of everything that involves Automotive technology.

I wasn't really talking about the GT-R in respect to Laguna Seca, and the top 5 cars are all, at least, twice as much as a Boss 302 LS. I was actually defending American engineering to Italian and German, as there were a lot of Ford bashing comments. Stemming from lack of knowledge. As far as the GT-R is concerned, the Laguna Seca time is from the 08 not the 12. Haters gonna hate.

I would also like you to see some of these century old Naturally Aspirated 1100hp cars, that run 9.1 quarters, and can still be daily driven.....

As far as twin turbos are concerned. Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, and Audi all use them..............

Another thing to think about... The Nissan GT-R came out in 08, and is equipped with a Dual Clutch Transmission. Now all of a sudden the Porsche Turbo and Turbo S have DCTs, the Mercedes SLS has a DCT, the Ferrari 458 has a DCT, the M3 comes with a DCT option, as does the Audi R8................... All of these cars came out with this option after the GT-R................................

The first lap time is with the 2012 and 530 bhp, the other times are from the CBA-R35 which has 50 less hp (which are 50-60k used).

Tsukuba, Japan (2070 m)

The Tsukuba Circuit is a famous race track located in Shimotsuma, a neighboring city of Tsukuba, Japan. It is 2,070 metres (1.29 mi) long, has 32 pits and the longest straight is 437 metres (0.272 mi) long. The track was established in 1966 with the aim of attracting young people to participate in motor sports but was not actually built until 1970. These days an event is held every week. The track has a large variation in corners ranging from wide sweepers to hairpins, testing drivers and their vehicles. There is room for 8500 spectators at the track, 3000 in the stands, 5000 on lawn seats and a further 500 standing over the pits. There is a small chicane corner that is used for motorcycle racing only.

Yes, i said that 1,100 HP is cool and all. I have been around multiple 1k hp cars. It is nothing knew to me. Since your knowledge and experience with the automotive industry and ability to use the search key are tops around these boards, you must have seen a 1,000hp domestic V8 sometime within the last 40 years. (approx 20 years before Nissan designed the original Skyline.) It's almost embarrassing how long it took foreign cars in the 1khp range to become achievable. N/A? Big fuckin chance. Every perfomance engine that comes from the East has a turbo stuck to it that it leans on it like a O2 tank that if failed, would cause it to fall to Earth.

Bragging about 1,100 HP is like bragging about 30mpg, it's been done. So it's nothing new and exciting to report on. More so with power adders. A twin turbo 6 cyl can push 1,000hp? Holy shit, call the President. Do it with a N/A pushrod 350ci V8, and then it becomes impressive. Hell, ANY N/A V8. I bet you'll find it much-MUCH more difficult(and three times the $) in the foreign market.

I find getting into an argument about these things is counter-productive seeing as how people have different opinions and feel strongly about different things. To me, the word "refinement" holds no value in a race car market. The terms mix, just like as well as oil and water. If you want fancy stitching and more sound deadening, it's not a racecar. It's a chick magnet.

I respect the GTR, i really do. But i get this foul taste in my mouth when someone comes up talking shit about every other car brand because Car and Drive printed "GTR DEMOLISHES 911 Turbo and Z06". Only to turn to the page to see it did, in fact win..... by "tenths of a sec." Im sorry, but "demolished" was not used grammatically correct. **EDIT** Road and Track 2010 has the ZR1 at 1.20.1 and the GTR Premium at 1.20.9...

And yes, i see that the latest result has the GTR up front. And i do say that lightly. Im wondering if it's possible for the human mind to accurately detect and reveal the difference between 1:20.25 and 1:20.43? What is that, a fender length? They are the same time. Different drivers means a completely different scenario. Add in the fact that the corvette has 3 outta the top 6 places, that speaks a lot more strongly, to me, that .18s.....

mustangs are overrated . had a 69 boss 302 replica . i dont like porche so if i could then ferrari. but really neither . i would rather do a kit car next . this one guy ran one with a modified corvette engine and was getting 1000hp and 13 mpg.if i remember right. i am a mopar guy tho so i am planning on getting a hemi then finding a car to put it in . i really would like a nice 80,ooo$ race engine
