i wish they STAYED kittens, cats can be real assholes...:cautious:
After I raised my last cat from the kitty stage I swore I would never raise another kitty again, they get into everything, just like children, accept they have pointy teeth and claws. My cat would hide inside my Mrs. room and soon as I walked by the door I would be attacked. My legs were heavily scratched from the knee to the foot. It's a wonder I didn't die from an infection.
When we first brought the little gaffer home from the SPCA...the first thing he did when I put him down on the floor, was to run over to houseplant sitting on the floor, give it a good smack and knocked off a big leaf, bigger than him.
Because we spent 24/7 together for just over a decade; a strong bond was formed. At the end of his life, he would have accidents around his litter box, he would come to me and let me know I needed to have a look and do clean up. Even when he bit me while trying to give him pain meds and caused an infection(antibiotics)
I could never get upset with him, I loved that cat dearly and still do. He passed away on the winter solstice.

^^^ Well, you have your cat people , and then you have your dog people , and then you have your in between :)
I grew up with dogs, especially Labs as my stepfather raised, sold and trained them. He even had a small home business producing equipment used in dog trials. I use to like attending the trials and watching the dogs working.
The only dog I've owned is St Bernard(Brandy). I lived on a beef ranch when I own Brandy, she was funny, she thought she was a cow dog, like the other ranch dogs.
I like both animals cats and dogs, oh hell even birds too. Never owned any reptiles.
I think I find cats easier to have. I like their independent nature.

I have a great appreciation for people who rescue an animal.

i am at heart a dog person, but present circumstances rule out a dog until something else fucks up the new carpet. :whistling: this forced separation has inadvertantly turned me into a "crazy cat person" it seems...or maybe it's just the natural effect of dealing with a gang of tiny kittens for weeks. :dunno: ;)

We are over run with feral cats.
They are all over the place.
I see cats almost every time I'm out hunting.
I wish the hawks would start eating them.
Until then....

That’s sad. It’s not their fault. Anyway I would never kill a harmless cat or dog. You could, trap them and neuter/spay them and release them back.,,,
The older I get the less stomach I have for killing. I used to hunt a lot… I don’t want too. I will fish but.. anyway this world is cruel enough without going out spreading hate/ killing… food for thought.

They are invasive and don't belong here.
I live on an island with no predators other than birds of prey.
All the native ground nesting birds have been decimated.

That is a real problem. They will kill all birds and rodents. It’s not their fault. Catching and spaying neutering program would work though.. at the very least help. Sorry to hear that. The natural world is under threat because of human activity.

cats, rats etc have caused problems everywhere they have gotten established. i understand they are hunted as varmints in Australia, along with wild hogs and water buffalo, as well as wild cattle. SOMETHING has to apply the brakes in situations like yours.
