Feeling down, miss my family

how can u be miserable living in BC...go outside, enjoy the fresh air, and be glad u don't live in Manitoba

Jesuz man...

haha, I'm actually thinking of applying for work in manitoba if i can't find anything here. i did have an interview last year in saskatchewan in winter and it was -25 with blowing snow.

Ya man,now i understand you... we all need sometimes somebody
to get thru hard time, sorry i was so rude on you..

but chin up... and dont come to Europe now, that was only joke...

cause here looks like soon shit will hit a vent.. but really,
stuff on terrain dont look good, atleast on refuggie coridor,

looks like this will be one of biggest humanitarian crysis ever and i am really sorry that people need to experience all this harrasing
and loosing comfort..

i am sorry cause both of them refuggies and
domestic population didnt made this what will happend but still
they will suffer...

life is bitch for sure,be happy that you are not in
Hungary now for instance.. on train station.. or on rails walking in unsecure and unknown..or between two borders on nobody land..and army is around you..

Thats why i say chin up cause you are good there.. :tiphat:

aren't all those refugees pretty much ending up in Germany? germany is going to have a lot of pissed off people. also a lot of those refugees are probably isis in disguise, most of the refugees look like young men .

Pretty sure this is the real yummy stoner....

And yummy you make your own happiness....but you won't listen, you never do

that makes sense. I think i might be bi polar now sometimes i get so depressed and down then i go to sleep and i wake up and I feel better. and how i feel goes up and down but i guess that can be normal. like i land one interview i'll be happy all of a sudden and if it doesn't work out i think i'm screwed forever.

Probably you're not getting any interviews because your resume is not as good as your fellow graduates. Do you have a resume yet or are you just shooting off emails asking for an interview? What was your GPA?

Why don't you post your resume here and get help tweaking it? It's really important that your resume is targeted to the business in your applying for. For example if you want to work for an immigration firm your cover letter and first paragraph of your resume should MUST state that clearly and how you're passionate about immigration.

If you want to work for a firm that mainly does criminal law or personal-injury then you need to have two different versions that are targeted to those types of firms. You would be aghast at all the resumes that are totally generalized not targeted to the position that the applicant is applying for. One time I saw a resume and the email address listed on the resume was "[email protected]" and needless to say that Word document got binned quick although I noted the email address for a later possible other position.

Another angle is international business law, or international tax law. There's big money in that cause those are the only laws that are more confusing than immigration laws. And most young attorney's don't think there's a big market for hiring lawyers that specialize in international tax law, but you could be one of them if you have a targeted resume. Maybe with this downtime you have now you could take a tax/accounting class to get your mind off the father that abandoned you.

Even if you don't get an internship you can always take that online class start n your own firm, rather than being in a rat race trying to make "partner".

If that's your dream to make partner, then go for it, some day the "Cochran Law Firm" could become the "Cochran & YummyBud Law Firm", that's a big name right there. Or "Ashcraft, Gerel, & YummyBud". If you make partner you'll be stacking cheddar faster then we can spend it. but don't forget when you work for a firm you have ALWAYS be billable. Long nights the office aren't healthy if you still want to have any hobbies. With money comes broads, so what I'm trying to say is if you post your resume and get advice soon you may be swimming in a plethora of seriously GOOD HIGH QUALITY ELITE PUNANI soon... Good vibes yummy bud. :deadxmas:

Your not fucking bipolar for christ sakes. Someone just needs to light a fire under your ass. Get motivated! Feeling like crap after screwing up in an interview is NORMAL. Sorry for the language but someone needed to say it. And don't go telling doctors you think your bipolar because those dumb asses will automatically agree with you and pump you full of meds. Might as well ask for a lobotomy!

Thanks for the tips. i've actually had my resume / cover letter looked at by the career service lady at my school and she said it was good, and i have landed some interviews so I know it is not crap.

it is a bit difficult for my to tailor my cover letter to some firms bc my main interests are criminal, family, and personal injury so I have for example applied to a business firm and my cover letter was crap. In my cover letter I also talk about all my volunteer experience with mostly disadvantaged groups like individuals with disabilities/ addictions, and mental health issues, and of course that has nothing to do with a business or tax oriented firm. I include my volunteer experience for the firms that do criminal or family bc i feel like it shows that I have the ability to work/ communicate with diverse clients and with difficult clients.

I think the main issue that hinders my ability to get interviews are my grades. I have about a B- gpa, and average is around a B, and a B+ would be a very good gpa. I have mostly Bs and b- on my transcript and some b+s but I also have some shitty grades like Cs that bring down my gpa. lot of the firms i apply to especially the bigger ones will ask for grades when applying and with so many students applying it's super competitive. A couple of places i landed interviews at did not ask for grades, and i have also landed interviews at a few places where I did submit my grades.

my dream is actually to work on my own eventually but it's not very practical to go and start your own firm with little experience. I also need to get hired to do an internship before i can get called to the bar, unless i go to Ontario next year and do the 8 month program to get licensed, but that is also not ideal bc it will be tough to land a position after that and i'll be stuck having to start my own practice.

so anyways i'm just join got keep on applying and calling places until i run out of places to contact and hope someone hires me so that i can complete my internship. I have even offered to work for free to complete my internship and still no response. i've heard of some students working for free to complete their internship but i don't know if it makes me look bad if i am offering to work for free. I usually email the lawyer and tell them that i am really interested in their firm and would like to gain experience and that i am willing to work as a volunteer.

haha ok thanks man. I definitely need some motivation. lately i've lost all my motivation. I called two firms today and sent one email and didn't do anything else. after so many rejections and no more interviews left i feel like i won't' ever get another interview.

you're right i'm probably not bipolar but i do get depressed all the time. what you just said is one reason i have never talked to a doctor about it bc i don't want to get pumped full of meds and become a zombie.

Those who is mixed between those refuggies will not come in peace,

people that know says that European security is totaly breached and all those security services have great problems to cover proper
all this happenings around... some countries was push army
on borders for help to indetifing refuggies...

but that is problem since most of them dont have any papers...
maybe fingerprinting will give them some answer who is who..

this refuggies on another side dont love that police and army takin their data... what is pretty uncommon for refuggies...heh.

Think it will be problems even whitouth terror elements as you need to spend country reserves on new people that come...

mine politicians here dont wanna spend money on domestic people
so i dont know in what way they think to care about refuggies..

that is paradox... and very dangerous situation.

Europe still didnt come back properly from that financial crysis
and this one another "slap" can totaly destroy EU...

Germany,Sweeden and European commision with calling refuggies was made autogol that will be remembered by other EU members
with rage and hate...

mostly cause all other countries dont wanna accept refuggies at all... and they didnt call them in first place... but still have them a lot.

And when you add to this terror and extremists beside economic
problems than War is very very possible...

If you are serious, here is my 2 cents.

Every morning, get up at 8 am and get dressed. Either business casual, or put a suit on. Drive down to your local court house. Go through security, find a court room and sit there.

Sit in on the court from 9 am - 12 Noon or whenever lunch is.

At first, you're going to want to beat the lines in the mornings. Sit there. Have conversations with people in line. Soak it in.

Eventually, someone is going to ask you why you're there. Tell them you're there to observe. Then you can tell them you're looking to pass the bar, as the morning is going on.

Eventually you'll get to know people. You'll see the same faces, they'll see you. They'll like you or they won't. If they don't, find a different court house and stick it out.

You can sit at home and do nothing, Or you can put in the time now and make it happen.

so far i've probably contacted a 100 firms, almost running out of firms to call so i'm contacted places further away.

I will set a goal for myself to contact at least 5 firms a day. today I called 5 places 1 didn't pick up, one told me no and the other 3, a secretary picked up and she doesn't know if they are hiring so she told me to email my resume and cover letter so i'll do that today.

usually when i send my resume and cover letter i get no response. out of the around 100 places i contacted so far i landed like 3 interviews so it is tough even getting an interview. also out of the 3 interviews i had 2 of them weren't even sure if they wanted to hire someone they just found my resume interesting and wanted to meet me.

anyways I got to sent out 3 applications today. I send out a pdf document containing my cover letter, resume, and reference letters and i usually leave out my transcript of grades unless they ask for it bc my grades are not my strongest point. I am also offering to work for free or pro bono in my emails.

hmm i might try that but i think calling and emailing firms is a better way to go. I have gone to court to observe many times and the lawyers there are extremely busy and it's not the best time to talk to them.
