I made a little platform for them to get closer to the light. The top of the tallest one is about 1 inch from the light and the smaller ones are 1.5 in.
Don't really want the temperature over 86 degrees f. Even lower is better. Want really affect potency in flowering but will make the plants/flowers stretch.
Here we are at a 11 days for the oldest ones and about 4 days for the youngest.
1 row of babies
sexy mama (if you maximize the pic you can see a specimen of black tourmaline, theres one in each pot. If you dont know about black tourmaline, google it  )
The youngest baby with a slight twist in the leaves (sorry it's blurry)
Gnarled, twisted leaves usually indicate a higher than ideal ph. It can be a little tough at first getting the perfect distance from floros. Less than 2" away from the plants, depending on the bulbs, can be too close. More than 3" away can be too far. I keep my vegging ladies between 2" & 2.5" away from 3 t12 tubes- moving them down to 2.5" from the lights whenever they get closer than 2". So they get adjusted sometimes as much as every day.
They are around 1.5 in. away right now and doing good. I have good ventilation and the bulbs I have dont really run too hot...
I tested the ph of my water and it seems to be a little high so I'm watering with distilled for a couple days. On their 2 week birthday the digital ph tester I ordered should be here and Ill start a weak tea adjusted to their needs.
I made my tea like this:
Per gallon of water...
1 tbsp mexican bat guano
1.5 tbsp ewc
1 tbsp molasses
1 tbsp alaska fish fert
3-4 drops superthrive
1 tsp maxicrop kelp extract added later
vinegar to adjust high ph
Nice setup! Baby's look very nice! Sorry about the poor germ rates, next time try the paper towle method so you can see the problem before it's too late. Sounds like you did your homework, Good Luck!
Frayedo - Thanks for the kind words! I may try using the paper towel germ next time but I think the reason some seeds didn't germ is that they weren't viable in the first place (i.e. my friend kept some of them in the freezer).
Heres my tea, I used an old sock for a tea bag here. I mixed a little over a gallon so I don't waste but can keep like an inch layer of "goop" in the bottom .
Some ferts I use, the salt doesn't go in the tea just a little in the soil (kelp among other things not shown, ewc are in the baggie).
Here we are at 19 days since the first seed was planted. All the plants are looking good except for one (first 2 pics). If anyone has some insight as to what might be wrong please let me know...
It's been 21 days since I planted the first seeds...
I am going to be taking cuttings in the near future in order to sex them before I go and start LST.
