The rise....and fall of empires. Now lets try and figure out if the USA is still rising or has gone into free-fall. Is there still plenty of steam left in Uncle Sam yet? With all those hundreds of military bases worldwide, and fingers if not boots on the ground in most wars, often on both sides, it makes you wonder if we are yet to see the pinnacle of global US aggression/power.

i think you are kinda missing my main points and getting lost in meaning i never intended.

to be clear, im not a hillary fan, i complained about Obama, probably more then about Bush before him, also i'm not a great fan of all aspects of the UN, specially not when the UN is used to bully other nations and take away their own soverign rights.

to me its about being honest and non partisan, when he fucks up, i will say so, just like when i feel he's in the right, like with the whole Russia gate bs and other crap the media treats differently to other presidents.

so let me repeat, if i was him and wanted this resolution not to pass, i would have gone quietly to all the other ambassadors and told them in confidence that the US really wants this and will be getting pay back from anyone who votes yes. this way they might have gone along with the will of Trump, but by making it a public threat he defeated his own aims to stop the resolution passing, because the ambassadors would have looked like the stooges they are. in the end i agree with you that the US has the right to decide where to put its embassy, it just can't tell the rest of the world to do the same unless they want to, lol.

also maybe think about this, so far the enemies being made are mostly in the ME, whats the point of threatening allies like European countries for a declaration that is mostly symbolic?

But at the same time western Europe has benefited from America playing this role. Both of our cultures provide for the highest quality of life in world history.

One needs to assume there will ALWAYS be a most powerful nation. So if America were to apologize for everything and melt down all the tanks and war planes, somebody else would fill the void. The EU doesn't have a viable military so that leaves Russia or China to fill the void of power. Would anyone in Europe prefer them to be the precedent setters in the world? Its easy to criticize how things have been handled by USA but would any of you REALLY prefer the alternative?


(edit: btw I'm aware that the UK has a bad ass military, just dont think they have the numbers to single handedly defeat the Russia/China)

no one expects the US to disarm, would be foolish indeed. but minding your own business militarily wouldn't be the end of western civilisation imo. i mean if we are honest many of the last few military adventures had negative effects on us in the west? not only is Afghanistan becoming a quagmire, Libya is back to slavery, while Iraq has become a secular hell hole and for some reason Syria must go down the same path. these are the things that don't really benefit western culture, in fact they cause terrorism and mass immigration. the only ones that benefit from this stuff are the military industrial complex and their shareholders, or would you disagree?

when military is being used on the other side of the planet i don't think there is much benefit to western civilisation is there? it should be used for a robust ability to defend your nation from attack. all this sending them all over the world to wage little wars here and there is not gonna end well and it is indeed making the list of countries that hate the US longer and longer year by year. which means the US military will have to get bigger and bigger to stay ahead of this game at this rate. can't be what Americans really want is it?

as for the benefits of civilization, no arguments there, more people on the world have water, food, shelter and regular electricity then ever.

I'm right there with you on most of this. I never saw the point of invading Iraq and its prob the biggest blunder of all time and lead to a cascade of shit. But I would assume from just the way that greed works, is that a lot of actions we conduct covertly and even some of the wars are to assist pro-west leaders so our businesses can reap profits.

Like the old "no blood for oil" line. You know that the ME and Africa are only relevant for minerals and oil that's why we spend so many resources fucking around there. But if the world oil supply was cut off or say an anti west leader came in and jacked shit up you'd have another embargo like spat and the economy would tank, millions of people out of work. So "blood for oil"- this is a fucked up thing but it takes blood to live the lives we lead. Not saying this is appropriate or condoning it, but I dont exactly see a line of people rushing to give up their cars for world peace?

i've heard this argument before, and it really has flaws when you look at it in practice. in the end the ones the reap the profits are a very small group, owners and share holders of a few companies that get the oil rights or contracts to supply the military. these folks indeed get very very rich, but you ever see a penny of that loot being shared out to the US public? even the old gas price argument doesn't really wash, whats cheaper, paying a bit more for the product or financing multi decade long wars and massive deployments in a 150 countries? wouldn't it be cheaper to just let the free market dictate the prices? in the end there are many sources and the US it's self is the second largest oil producer in the world. so i would argue that your average citizen profits not a whit from these wars, on the contrary, they pay for it by being taxed to finance the world wide occupation of the 860 known bases. but if it's really true that your whole standard of living in the US is dependant on killing people in the rest of the world i'm glad not to have been born there as that would be a huge karmic burden to bare imo.

but i don't see that it's true, as i explained, you, (average citizen) don't benefit, only certain elites and of course the whole military complex profits, the rest of you are feeding the beast, with your tax money and your blood when you serve abroad.

if you would save all that money you could pay double for the oil and still be twice as rich as you are now as a nation, you probably wouldn't have the 20 trillion national debt either.

how do you explain Europe living at a good standard without looting and raiding all over the world anymore, despite still wasting huge amounts on nato, the UN, EU institutions?

This thread is about the U.S.A. election and the Mueller investigation. It has fallen apart. In fact it not only is falling apart it is going to go in the opposite direction the democrats and Hillary supporters wanted it to go.

I want the fucking truth. I didn't care if it meant Trump went down and I don't care if Hillary and Obama go down. However, it looks like Obama, Hillary, the F.B.I. and the DNC are the corrupt ones.

They along with ABC, NBC, CNN, MSN, NYT, Washington post and many other newspapers vilified Trump. Falsely called him a NAZI, racist and Russian conspirator just to win an election. And they lost.

I voted for Obama twice. I was a stupid fucking idiot. I am very disappointed in all this crap. They lied and used dirty tactics to win an election, they lost, so now they use dirty tactics to ruin the guys presidency.

The Rasmussen poll says Trump has a 46% approval rating. If you use the average of the fake polls it is 39%. Other countries say we elected a bum and nobody likes him. Yet he has a higher approval rating of Germany's Merkel 29%, the UK's May 34%, France's Macron 36%, Japan's Abe 34%, Canada's Trudeau 36% and the DNC 38%.

Don't throw stones if you live in glass houses.

Of course the FBI & the Special Counsel are holding back info from Nunes committee. That's a no-brainer, considering that Nunes will immediately take it to the White House. They're still investigating & it would be utterly unprofessional to tip their hand like that in any investigation. Sheesh.

The key to appearing to be innocent is to never let 'em see you sweat. These attacks on Mueller & the FBI don't give that impression at all, do they? They sure as Hell don't from my perspective. Looks more like desperation from here.

We weren't there so all we get is what committee members tell us whether that's the truth or not. They're trying to turn attention away from the Russian meddling that obviously occurred & onto the hated one, the evil Hillary, & how the FBI failed to satisfy Trumpsters fondest wish to lock her up. The mere utterance of her name scrambles their cognitive functions like a flashy lure thrown in front of a hungry fish.
