Dune, Dune Messiah, Children of Dune, God Emperor of Dune, Heretics of Dune, and Chapterhouse: Dune by Frank Herbert
Dune: House Atreides, House Harkonnen, House Corrino by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson
Butlerian Jihad, Machine Crusades by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson
If you can't tell, I love Dune....

Currently reading The Electric Kool-aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe....not bad, kinda odd wording though. I hate when authors think they have a unique style, when in fact they just suck at putting a sentence together. Still a good book though.

A tad. It is more of an addiction really....you know it is bad when you have dreams about not only being in the book, but dreams where you are just sitting at home reading it.

My name is Tarkus, and I have a Dune problem.

Man, I love the Hobbit. It was my favorite book in middle school, then I met Dune....and yeah. Obsession soon followed. The Hobbit is still a fantastic book though.
What is Ebook reader?? I have never even heard of that. I like the feel of a book though, there is just something oddly satisfying about it. I also love the smell of books. I guess I am something of a bibliophile. I love books, and I would love to have a library at my disposal. I have had people tell me I am weird because I do not like to damage my books. I never dogear the pages, never write in them, never fold them in half (damaging the spine) and never write in them. Even though they are mine, I do not like to do any of this, as I plan to pass them along someday. I love really old books that are still in good condition.

fellas come on seriously ekaat is the bomb! u want boring square english when ur talking about ken kesey and the merry pranksters? i think that kind of criticism is better directed at hunter thompson or james joyce...

i'm not big on fiction but i really like kurt vonnegut, jailbird and cat's cradle are my favorites...i guess i will just make a list...

1) Jailbird by Kurt Vonnegut
2) Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut
3) Bonfire of the Vanities by Tom Wolfe
4) The Satyricon by Petronius
5) Native Son by Richard Wright

edit: While maybe not of the same gravity as my above choices I'm going to make "The Hitchhiker's Guide" trilogy 5a...tarkus talking about dune made me think of how much i loved it...i even had the books read on cassette tapes and they were awesome, the voices were all really sweet...i haven't read the trilogy in years, i have to get a new copy!

1984 gets my vote too, Its the only book I can actually remember finishing, and I have read it more than once... But if any of those guys in suits are reading this post I think that book is total bullshit, and don't think america will be like that soon, please don't come get me.

FREEDOM IS SLAVERY

IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH

the last one is VERY true for the US... Ignorant, blindly patriotic, hateful people in America really fucked us all over right after 9/11.. and are still doing it today

for the second one... half true... freedom is slavery if the enslaved truly believe that they are free.. then they ARE truly free.. at least from their minds.. not so true for the rest of us..
