Today was not a fun day on the farm. I found out that my outdoor container BYTCH wasn't poisoned by anyone. After looking in one of the VEG rooms, I saw a few leaves starting to twist. I performed a run off test and discovered that every soil plant in the room had a pH of 5.4 or below. The majority of these plants never got any nutes and have only been getting 7.0 water for a couple of weeks. Every single bag of Fox Farm Ocean Forest that I ever tested was always 6.4 - 6.5 but not these batches. So to make a long story short, the last 10 bags of FFOF were all fucked up. I've been performing my "Charging Your Medium" treatments all day and have only fixed 5 plants in the last 4 hours and have so many more plants to fix. It will probably take me 2 or 3 days to complete this task. At least I know what the problems are and can get everything back to healthy but now I will have about a 5 day delay until the next soil batch goes into a flowering room. So I guess it's not too bad but it's a lot of work.

That cow as well as other animals on the farm eat whole plants. When I need to get rid of some defoliated leaves from plants, the cows take care of them for me! One day the cows are also going to be eaten and should be very nice!

I tried to tell you guys that I eat real nice at the farm! Cooking and food is an important part of me and Snypettes lives. Snypette is a really good cook as well and she makes the best breakfasts that i've ever had in my life! Her eggs are made with bacon fat and the home fries are the best! Anyway, here's some food:

Yeah Kindest pull up a chair! Keep the bongs packed and the joints rolled for this one! As long as you are happy, that's all that matters!

Stardog #6
15" - VEG under CFL's for 35 days - Although the run-off is low, she shows no sensitivity whatsoever. She grows the fastest out of the Motorbreaths and other Stardog pheno's. I haven't tested her next to the BTYCH yet but I have a bunch of BYTCH's in the back that are 2 weeks further along and tower over anything else that were also topped too many times to count. The test comparing VEG growth of Stardog #6 to my BYTCH will start in about 2 weeks. This plant pretty much grows itself and doesn't seem to be sensitive to anything yet. Her run-off pH was 5.7 due to a bad batch of FFOF and I performed my "Charging Your Medium" today with a solution of:

24 mL General Hydroponics FloraMicro
36 mL General Hydroponics FloraBloom
5 Grams GH Powder Kool Bloom
30 mL General Hydroponics pH Up
Those rates are for 4 Gallons and a pH of 6.9

We will see if she shows any poor signs of her first feed of refined nutrients. I had to fix the pH of the soil and this is my way of doing that. I poured 3 Gallons of solution through this plant and was able to get the run-off up to 6.0 - 6.1.

Stardog #9
14" - VEG under CFL's for 35 days - Although the run-off is low, she shows no sensitivity whatsoever. She grows slower than the Stardog #6 but slightly faster than KK Stardog. Her stem is thinner than the Stardog #6 but the structure and leaf traits all seem similar. This plant pretty much grows itself and doesn't seem to be sensitive to anything yet. Her run-off pH was 5.9 due to a bad batch of FFOF and I performed my "Charging Your Medium" today with a solution of:

24 mL General Hydroponics FloraMicro
36 mL General Hydroponics FloraBloom
5 Grams GH Powder Kool Bloom
30 mL General Hydroponics pH Up
Those rates are for 4 Gallons and a pH of 6.9

We will see if she shows any poor signs of her first feed of refined nutrients. I had to fix the pH of the soil and this is my way of doing that. I only poured 1 Gallon of solution through this plant because I was too busy to keep it going but I will continue the treatment when the soil dries out.

KK Stardog
13" - VEG under CFL's for 35 days - She grows the slowest out of all of the Stardogs. Her structure and growth is similar to Stardog #9 but she doesn't bush out as much. She has shown me no problems and seems to not be sensitive to anything yet. I'm very interested to see what she produces knowing that she took 2nd place in San Francisco! Her run-off pH was 5.5 due to a bad batch of FFOF and I performed my "Charging Your Medium" today with a solution of:

24 mL General Hydroponics FloraMicro
36 mL General Hydroponics FloraBloom
5 Grams GH Powder Kool Bloom
30 mL General Hydroponics pH Up
Those rates are for 4 Gallons and a pH of 6.8

We will see if she shows any poor signs of her first feed of refined nutrients. I had to fix the pH of the soil and this is my way of doing that. I poured 4 Gallons of solution through this plant and was able to get the run-off up to 5.9.

The Stardogs were placed under a 250 Watt MH today and getting ready to go into flowering any day now. They are very good looking plants with great structure and show no sensitivities. They love to be topped and I have topped them multiple times. Here is a group shot of them:

WTF! Snype got a tent? LOL! This is a DR150 - 60" x 60" x 80". Every bit of room that I find on this farm got something funny going on! This specific tent is to test the Motorbreaths and Stardogs. Most of the plants will be in flowering tomorrow morning! After that it will be used as one of my breeding tents!

Here are some pictures of VEG Room A-1. There's supposed to be 2 white trays but one of the lights broke and I had to take it out for a few days while a new light comes. One of the walls that is not shown contains a garden cart with 2 shelves on wheels that I use for my seedlings. That wall also contains more MOMs as well.

hey snype,

didn't know too much about you, seen you on the boards. Decided to get to know you a little better when you messaged me. Noticed you are growing some Chem made by Rez.........I wont go there, and I really must say, I love your attitude and your farm looks amazing. Couldn't come up with anything bad to say, (other than possibly your msg to me) so I can only give my respect. A job well done.

Well I've decided that all of the Stardogs, 2 of the Motorbreaths and 2 BYTCH's are going into flowering in the morning. The plants range in heights from 14.5" to 18". I have a few more that are a little slower that will be going into the tent within the next 4 days. In total I am trying to squeeze 10 plants in here under a 600 watt HPS Hortilux. I will stick with the 600 for now but I may go up to 750 watts or 1000 watts depending on how things are going.

...congrats on the farm bro, i'm saving money for land as we speak, lol.

...i'll be looking for a parcel somewhere that allows alternative building techniques because i plan on going completely off grid so i'll be building something along the lines of an Earthship.

anyway, here's a few pics to illustrate and if you'd rather i pull them just let me know, i'm not looking to jack your thread and this has nothing to do with the growing of the ganj so i'll understand if you'd rather not have your thread cluttered with extraneous photos.

...so, here's an illustration that shows the basic concept.

picture.php

...and here is a shot of the outside of one although each is unique in that each owner is almost always one of the builders and so each gets cosmetically customized.

picture.php

...here's a shot looking down the greenhouse at the front of every earthship, they aren't all the same but all are designed to produce 40% of the vegetables for a family of 4, ...approximately, lol.

picture.php

...and here's a shot of the basic construction technique, ...the buildings are always built to face in a basically southerly direction to passively capture the suns energy and the tire walls provide thermal mass, ...there is also passive air-conditioning designed into each building.

picture.php

...and this last picture is to a diagram of a 'trompe' which uses the energy of falling water to create isothermically compressed air and finding information on this technology is very difficult because it has been suppressed by the oil company's.

picture.php

...if you can build one on your land it will provide you with unlimited power, ...the compressed air can be used to power shop tools, generators, whatever and because the air is isothermically compressed that means it is very pure, no oils and the like you'd get from a compressor, plus, it is very cold, just run an air line off the plenum into a closed rootcellar and instant walkin freezer.

...anyway, good luck bro, i'll be following along with you as you learn to live the rural life.

a friend of mine has solar panels which he says work ok ,but the wind turbine is next to useless! and he lives on a windy hill ! i am only going by the scale of the picture
ps the batterys cost a fortune too and are pretty much shot after 10-15 years

there is no doubt that going completely off-grid presents some challenges but in the case of an earthship electrical needs are roughly calculated before the build plus almost everything in the house is low voltage and even DC so solving the technical difficulties is doable, especially if you are willing to make a few sacrifices for your freedom.

...and so what if the batteries are expensive and only last 10 or 15 years, if they shit the bed you can use all the thousands of dollars you've saved over that same decade and a half not paying some electrical grid assholes and buy some new ones which by then might be cheaper and more effecient.

...and if can buy land with water and a slope you can build a trompe that will give you all the power you could use, ...here's a vid of a motor running on compressed air that would happily generate electricity if that's the job you've set for it.

[youtubeif]http://youtu.be/f78pxHqhWhM[/youtubeif]

...yeah, i don't know if the link is working but if you do a youtube search for 'compressed air electricity' or something similar you will find MANY videos, ...the truth is that compressed air technology isn't new and in fact goes back to the 1920's and '30's.

...and trompes are still used today to generate electricity AND to power ALL the pneumatic tools in the mining industry, ...you sure as hell can't burn ANY kind of fuel 1000 feet below ground.

all i am saying is that my friend thought exactly the same as you do now 7 years ago, paid for all of the equipment to be installed about 20-25000 dollars ,i helped him erect the turbine, and on a sunny day with the wind at gail force he could not switch the washing machine and tv on at the same time.
what is important to remember is that it is dark 50% of the time and the solar panel's slow down by up to 80% with real cloud cover ,and i am not sure on average how windy most places are most of the time!
but through my friend i have learnt it all looks good in the advertising, but put into actual use over a 6-7 year period ,he purchased a generator after 12 months and spent the next 6 years kicking himself about the other $20,000 he had wasted.good luck willyweed

...did you read the stuff i wrote about the trompe? ...there's more than one way to skin this cat bro and the things you describe are obstacles to overcome not deal breakers.

...there is also micro-hydro-electric as an option if you have moving water on your land.
