Drug-toting celebrities should really start going out of their way to avoid the Sierra Blanca checkpoint. Nelly has joined Fiona Apple and Snoop Dogg on the Texas border stop’s wall of fame after he was pinched there last night for possession of heroin, weed, and a loaded gun. The rapper’s bus was stopped for a search, and cops found 36 small bags of heroin, a loaded .45, and a duffel bag containing over 10 pounds of pot—roughly the size of a large bed pillow.
Needless to say, Nelly and the six other people on his bus at the time were all detained. One of the passengers, a man named Brian Keith Jones, has fessed up to owning everything and was arrested. A dubious claim, sure, but Nelly and the remaining five people were released.

In the late nineties when I was on dead tour going through Tennessee on the freeway, there was a sign that said drug checkpoint one mile. Just after the sign was an exit so we got off to avoid it. Well they had a whole sting set up with cops and dogs, there were a bunch of people stopped being searched and such. We had a Toyota pick up with a shell on the bed. We had a lb. of some super stinky indoor in the truck bed buried under a bunch of camping things.
The dog went around the perimeter and signaled that it smelled something. They let the dog go into the cab area and it went nuts, so they searched it and found a bag that had weed in it. The cops just left it at that and assumed that's what the dog smelled?!?!?! They warned us and let us go!! For years I kept an empty weed bag in my car. Lol
