Fact fans underneath plants cause huge growth spurts..

If no one knows this.. well now you do..

me and this other grower I met on youtube.. we have come to a cool discovery..

we are growing the exact same strain. I put my fan underneath the plants so it can cool my stove top.. this seemed to make my plants grow really fast.. and the other guy his fan was pointing downwards on the plants and it grew very very very slowly. mine was 15 days his was 30 days I am using small pots he is using bigger.. plus he is using nutes n ferts.. I am just using natural organic soil. And are 3 times the size.. he is also using 100 watts more then I, both using cfls.

Your right I have noticed that plants love to have a few box fans on the floor bringing fresh air to the stomata on the leaf undersides.

It would be cool to do a side by side with both groups having the same setup(nutes, lights, strain, container) and record the results. One with Fans blowing a chest level, one with fans on the floor.

when you put a fan on under the plants you are creating CO2 when the leaves flutter back and forth. and the plants breath from the under sides of the leaves from what I understand so the more air from underneath creates more CO2 they can breath.

This is the real secret. Fans make co2. And I've been buying tanks......doh

ok so maybe I worded it wrong maybe I should have said, the more air you push past the leaves making them shutter helps them to breath better. Is that better TacomaComa? I my self have no problems with this as I have enough air being pulled past my plants. What is your thoughts on the topic tacomaComa? I am only asking because the only 2 posts I see here it looks like you are just Trolling.

A fan blowing up at vertical bulbs seems to help the extractor fans cool my tents a bit easier. In my garden, this puts the canopy at a more ideal temp for optimal plant growth.

sounds like your grow envroment is more dialed in then other persons. fans set at different levels in the grow help to move air around inside fans blowing onto the plants help to build stronger stems. fans blowing in the garden like in mine help to dry out the medium much faster thus allowing for more waterings and feedings

fans dont creat CO2 but water, sugar, and some yeast will

youst be carefeul in witch direction you set fans! I was do some terrible mistake and pointed it directly on flowers and i get beautiful hermies all around!!!

ya think this is why there are vents at the bottom of grow tents?
vent out the top, pulling air past the plants.

do you two have the exact same medium, water, temperature, nutrient regimen, experience/ability, and genetics? if so, then your argument may stand scrutiny.

there was an article on a site called laughing moon where some Canadian croppers put fans blowing across the plane of the leaf to simulate the angle of natural winds, the thought was the plants pores took in more air when the wind blew across the leaf

it concept was also used to "force feed" co2 and I still set my co2 in front of a fan blowing across the leaf plane the last time i used it

this was a first time run in an unsealed room with simple active exhaust

plants are in soil 5 weeks in

co2 was distributed via fan (box fans out of picture on right) across the plane of the leaf to the back of the room

most efficient use of co2 .. perhaps not

at 30 something dollars a bottle did an extra 60 dollars of gas over a grow harsh my wallet or my girls?

needless to say i have found proper use of ventilation or co2 does make a big difference and i do think there is some truth to it although i argue the placement of the fan

it very well could be a matter of LST stress caused my air movement stimulating hormone production of some sort

needless to say fans moving air over the plants is important regardless of cause and effect

beautiful room weird.
the op was talking about ambient CO2, not supplemental. as if the fans forced more CO2 into the stomata because of the direction the fan blew in....at least that was my take on it.

thank you very much for the compliment

ive found pushing air over the leaf with or without co2 makes a visible difference compared to a grow that does not have that element, even if air exchange is equal

that was not a sealed room so ambient co2 was less relevant but since i had regulators and tanks on hand i figured why not

proper air flow and ventilation is one of the factors that are easy to over look and are really one of the biggest contributing factors throttling many growers trying to bring it next level

i prune lower growth and have a fan blowing across the tops of growbags. mostly for ventillation and less chance of mold

i just breathe heavily whenever i'm around them.

ventilation is important, even paramount to producing healthy plants.

however the idea of plants bursting with new growth because of fan placement eludes me.

air movement...ie wind, will stimulate the plant to bulk up stems for it's protection. no contention there. thicker stems will support more growth perhaps.

it's hard for me to fathom since i have two tents right now in flower. one has fans at floor level, the other the fan is at canopy. guess which one is more robust?

everything in his comparison is different but for the CFLs and the cultivar.

I used to run a couple fans in my room under each bulb gently blowing straight up but have since stooped ..it actually made my room run a touch warmer with them ..not sure why but now no fans and I get a few degrees cooler lights on..and I still have plenty of air flow my plants all gently rustle as air us drawn in through my passive intakes at the bottom by the floors ..
