the only places where we should expect the word Cannabis being used instead of the various slang terms is within professional settings, from journalism, education, research, government, etc...

in casual conversations, it does not matter what we call it.

it's like if you read an essay on the moon, you don't see it being called 'that big cheese ball'... or an essay on homo sapiens sapiens, you don't see a different terms like 'dudes' being used instead...

I say marijuana is our word. No one else can use it or it's offensive. We are taking it back. Same with pot and dope. For example, "What's up my pothead?! How's it hangin'?" "Nothing much my stoner! Where's the mary?" would be a legitimate and acceptable conversation between two people who partake. However, if politicians start using those terms, we should assemble a march on Washington in protest.
