Because high temperatures inside of an ez cloner will breed shit you don't want in there.

actually yeah what they said^^^^^ I haven't started them up yet, but I,m going from dirt to a full spay program from cutting to harvest. I kept reading about all sorts of slime in the cloners and was read it was a heat issue. Optimally I guess 68-72 degrees is the target for both zero slime and faster rooting. My worry was that I didnt wany to get an underpowered chiller that couldn't handle the task. And...... when I fire up the bloom trays Id like to have a better understanding of everything involved !
As always suggustions and input are always welcome

I used to have this problem in the summer. The result was slime and 0% rooting? Pool shock solved the problem 100%. Even if water temps get to 80 or so I still get 99.9% rooting in a week or so.

Last summer I started using snype's clone formula and have never lost a clone since. I don't know about 'nubs in 3 days!', but I have foot-long roots in 10-14 days with all strains... with 80 degrees f as the preferred temperature. Never had any root rot or problems.

To drop the temps you can also put the water pump on a short cycle timer; I do 15 minutes on and 15 off in the summer to keep it where I want it.

shitty sub pumps dump alot of heat into what ever water they are submerged in.

you could get a quality inline mag drive pump with a fan cooled motor to adress probably 80% of that heat gain.

a good quality brushless DC pump would be even better.

with that said. who cares what the water temp is, as long as its less then 90 or so... just chlorinate as mentioned above.

and get a decent Fas-DPD free chlorine test kit imo. take the guess work out of it all.
