Expected yield from 400w?

I got 10-12oz from my last grow...5 plants each in their respective 3 gallon container in a 3x3x6 tent and one 400w HPS hung vertical barebulb in the center with the plants encircling the light...Monocropped (clones of the same mother, all the same size),I see a pound for sure in my near future with one 400w HPS.

Once you vert,you never revert!

about 1 oz. per plant is quality for a 400 watt, growing single cola style, typically. at that point, you're really searching genetics, for the genetics that get you close to the 1 oz. or better, rule.

I bet you can crank 1/2 lb. to 1 lb. a month from a 400 watt hps and some creative use of 240 watts of CFL's.

Bottom line, I read that a 400 lamp is good for a moderate smoker, but 600 is better, and 1,000 is for a couple of casual smokers.

Read that in a growbook one day, and it's kind of true. Unless you're a medical user, about 500 watts per person is right for casual use and 1,000 would be right for a chronic smoker.

Those are all watts per person figures.

ok so not 50 only 35. but im going to get a 600w when they are ready to flower. so i will have 2 400w & 600w

You could smoke yourself silly with those lights. You can do it with one 400.

The 600 will give you the density. You'll have to learn with your lights, and rotate the plants to get the best commercial density from the 600, and supplement with the 400's, or whatever you decide to do.

The 600's and 1000's just have a higher output of energy and power and it produces something different in quality. You'll see.

I call the 400 watts a 4x4 footprint and the 1000 a 6x6 footprint. it's basically a foot for every lamp jump. every five gallon is a 1 sq. ft.

I was using a 400w hps for flowering before I switched to 600w. Now , bare in mind I must have grown a dozen times with the older 400w systems. Grow area is about 4x3 in total. The average yield with these soil grows has always been around 5-8 ozs. Even with the expert guidance of a Canadian grower paid for his guidance, I could just get past the 8oz mark. There were accounts , however credible, of growers at another site getting a pound or more from a 400w hps. That I would have to see to believe. Maybe possible with some of the most high tech grow systems devised by hardcore pro growers . But still , a pound to a pound and a half . No mean feat !

wen running less then 600w lights.. SOG is the most effective yield wise.

yield depends on so many factors. my best for a 400 was 14.5 oz I believe. could of got more with higher yielding strains. I am less concerned with yield than potency.
