Exhausting into same room with open window?

Hello guys, i wanna do a 2400w vertical setup in a 8x8 grow tent. I have 2 8" exhaust fans for ventilation and 2 6" inline fans for active intake.

The room i have my temp in needs to stay locked for security reasons. It has a big window but for security reasons too, i cannot open the curtains. I can just open the window a bit but curtains need to cover the whole window so that my grow tent cannot be seen from outside.

Do you believe that if i had exhaust as close to the window as possible with the curtains covering it completely, the heat would not get out? I will be drawing air from floor level, inline fans that serve as active intake will be next to the window too.

So, in two words, i am asking if i vented in the same room with an open window but not outside the window, would there be a problem?I know 2400w put out a lot of heat.

Thank you very much for any suggestions.

Only way to know for sure is try it.

If I had to guess, it's going to be too hot.

Most of the heat is going to stay in the room.

Thank you very much for your answer! Do you think that if i used cooltubes with more exhaust fans (i've got some spare 6" and 5"), the result would be about the same?

so basically you will run a box with no exhaust? 2 things should happen. 1.) it's gonna be really hot in the box, and 2.) the smell / a little heated air will eventually force its way back out past the intake fan(s).

i wouldn't do it if i was you. why don't you use a carbon filter that way you can have the window open and still keep your plants cool?

i reread your post, for some reason it didn't make sense the first time. i'm high. yeah that will work. the heat will go into the room and you don't really need to be next to the window, but the closer to the window the cooler the air coming in will be. but if it's a whole room the temps will eventually equalize and with an open window i suspect the temps will be close to whatever it is outside. i would just make sure it's not too cold in the tent.

I did not get you dude :(. I will be using 2 carbon filters with the 2x8" exhaust fans. I am just asking if venting in the same room my growtent is located is ok. Suggesting that the window will be open but it will have curtains in front of it.

Not very big bro, its about 11x10 feet in total. If i put the tent into this room, it will be about 2 feet away from the window. I imagine that the bigger the room is, the more chances i would have for this to work?

Yes a bigger room would help.

IMO, that room is not going to be big enough.

I think you need to vent that heat out of the room your tent is in, if at all possible.

ive done it.. and let me tell u .. it sucked.. had some times too hot.. and sometimes too cold. never right in the middle. wat u can do is build a window box. to fit over ur window. go to walmart. and find a piece of fabric that will let Air in .. and Block as much view as possible.. I got a piece that looks like a window curtain.. stapled it around the window. divided the box. so that I had top going out as exhaust.. and bottom bringing in cold air. and it works like a champ.. I love it.. I can drop my temps to get my buds to fully purple up if I just leave the light off for the 2 last days.. temps drop a lot. and boom. my purple kush turns STR8 purple instead of just having a purple tint to it .

I'm not going to read past the first post. But I'll tell you, it's a terrible idea. Exhaust that baby or don't run those lights. That's a shit ton of heat to have building up in your room.

if the intake is in the same room as the exhaust you'll just cycle most of the heat through the growtent..
Now, if you had another place to intake cool air from, and maybe put a particleboard box over the window and exhaust into that, you'd be golden!

Alters window box idea is a good one.

I'm pretty sure there is a design for one somewhere here.

Gotta vent that hot air outta that room!

It's not gonna work, I'm doing the exact same thing but with a 3x3 tent and a 400w.

In order for me to have a perfect 76F temp inside my tent, it has to be 41F outside.
There's no way you're gonna be able to keep it cool this way using 6 times as many watts.

2400 watts?

why don't you try heating the rest of the house with it? you can always open a window in another room if it gets to warm. running the lights at night would be a plus too.

Guys, thank you very much for your helpful replies! Let me explain the situation a little bit more: I have two houses. One 3 bedroom house i own in my hometown and a one bedroom apartment in a city 90 miles away from my hometown.

I have completed 3 grows in the past in my 1 bedroom apartment. The fourth grow was abandoned, i was doing a tree grow setup with 8x600w lights on filp flop in that small apartment. It was not stealthy as you can understand and i freaked out in the end, cutting the 4x4 trees that i had grown and that were about to go into flower.

For this grow (with autoflowers), i was thinking that a 4x600w in my 3 bedroom house would be perfect. I have a spare 11x10 room just like i described and it would be perfect. I decided to downgrade the grow tent size from 8x8 to 7x7. Still hanging on my desicion for the 4x600w bulbs.

There is a problem in my ideal situation however. A serious one. My grandparents live in their own house above mine. They come to my house frequently. I have not seen them visiting the spare room, but having it locked all of a sudden would be suspicious. Anyway, i could skimp this somehow.

The bigger problem is that the only window of the spare room does not have blinds, it has only curtains. And i cannot move them aside, they would see what's going on inside. Installing blinds+locked door would be very suspicious i believe, if they are not to understand a thing for the 3 months that i am intending to grow.

So now you understand why i want to have the door locked and the window as stealthy as possible...Do you have any suggestions for my special case? I don't my grandparents to suffer a heart attack.

.... so you want to do a stealthy little 2400 watt grow, in the same house you live with your grandparents in, without them knowing or even being suspicious about what's going on in that room that has 4 intake/ exhaust fans running? If you are trying to be stealthy, scale it down a bit. if you are wanting to produce multiple pounds with no one the wiser, you should do it at a place of your very own... like your apartment.

Does the room you’re gong to use have a heat duct from central heating? If so you could run exhaust into it and then disconnect the ducting under the house (or wherever) and vent the heat through the craw space or basement.

However, I have to agree with otis33. Your grandparents would surely notice enough to make them curious.
