Evolution

If one species of primates broke off into chimpanzees and us.... then what is to stop OUR species of human breaking off into other types of humans?

I think its possible we are already seperating as a human race. Maybe some of us will evolve into aliens... less muscle mass, more brain tissue.

Maybe this process of evolution is happening on other planets, hence why we already have aliens visiting us. These other planets were just faster or started earlier in the evolution game then us.

But I find it interesting. The stereotype of a meathead jock football player. He looks more ape-like... large jaw. Square head. You can see it easier... than say the nerdy dude with glasses, which has a thin neck, thin body, but a brain that seems more geared for neocortex thinking.

So I think the next wave of evolution is that some humans will start looking more alien-like. We need more brain matter to keep us with the flow of information our technology is making.

Also our technology now allows us to do less physical work, so we won't be needing so much brute strenght anymore. That will evolve out.

The meat-head jock football players(especially linemen) are actually Neanderthals who hid from the Cro Magnon and just came out of hiding this last century. The next wave of alien-looking people is upon us. They are called Rasties.

Humans already have evolved from each other in a sense. Black, white, asian ect. all evolved to fit the particular climate around them. As far as a major evolution we are yet to see.

quite correct. always get the terms mixed up. both can be brought on via natural selection so it's easy to mix the two up.

I definately think that if humanity develops the ability to colonize other worlds, that evolution will take the species in several different directions as we spread...

Here within the confines of this world... I see humanity becoming more homogenous, the more cosmopolitan the world becomes and the easier travel becomes... If we never leave the planet, I could see racial lines becoming much less distinct in the future...

Indy, look up steatopygia. A pygmy with steatopygia would make you want to give up doggy-style sex.

Pops...that is crazy! Maybe it explains why black people like big butts in their mates. Seems they were more related to the big butt woman u speak of, then the white boys.

Yeah the more I think about it, the more I realize we are seperating... I think also the reason why there is so much almost instinctual racial tension...is not just from social conditioning...but from a real instinctual knowing that, although we are both human.... we are actually not exactly the same type of human.

Maybe I went to far with that...but I can see how it could be possible.

Hmm maybe that fat butt thing doesn't just happen in black people.

I think its possible that... every single thing alive is really connected. That if humans came from all of these past creatures... we possibly still possess traits, genes, memories, hell who knows... but we posess some things from the line we evolved from.

I seriously need to go back and read stuff on evolution as I never really payed much attention until now. But it does seem interesting all of this.

Does anyone know if you can reverse evolution? In other words, a human genetic 'line' (if you will), could revert back to the ape line?

George Bush jokes aside :rasta: (or maybe he is a great example?)

Actually evolution is an ongoing thing. In the past, evolution was fueled by adaptation, natural selection and,to a lessor degree, mutation or genetic drift. Today, with modern medicine and welfare societies, the survival of the fittest(natural selection) no longer applies. Even the dumbest and least attractive or skilled individuals are allowed to breed. Since technology has replaced adaptation, that leaves mutation or genetic drift as the sole propagator of evolution.

what about how some religious organization is offering $250,000 if you can
"prove evolution to be true." Well, first of all, if this group is so sure that evolution
is false, why not make it 900 billion?
Second of all, i'll personally give them $250,000 if they can prove evolution to
be false, ****in' idgeots

humans will definately diverge if they end up colonizing other worlds.

I thought that whole butt thing was interesting.. the last party I was invited to I made to the mistake of saying that african, african american women have large rears..... i live somewhere where there are very very few african people.... some from the north somlia but thats it....

I saw a skit recently that explained it.. I think it was drawn together... an african mans love of a big rear is a survival trait passed down through the eons.. you see when an african guy sees a lion, he runs away and finds a safe cave to hide in... now if he happens to find a large bottomed woman as he is running away he can hide there until danger has passed....and the lions just cant seem to find him...

at least that is how it works in cartoon world... sure it was drawn together..yes Ray Ray and Toots....the episode where Bambi takes revenge.

As for the grunts/quarter backs or what ever, they are the protectors of the tribe. In this day and age battle has been replaced by field sports like the various football sports out there. That is why they are out there playing.. because battles are frowned upon unless you happen to believe in terrorists under the bed.

there has always been the artists and thinkers who moderate societies attitudes and offer different points of view to issues. The philosphers or lefties.

Then there are the engineers and builders who make shit. These are the Scientists who often mistake themselves for creators.

Then there are the planters and sowers... who till the earth or tend to the pre-food live stock. These are the Paternals.

Then there are the breeders and careers who ensure everyone is born then kept healthy and fed. These are the Maternals.

Animal societies are often set up that way. Some animals are isolationists and live alone or with offspring but many live in herds like humans do. Many herds will have 2 or more of those characteristics amongst the members... the herd chief, head bull, lion etc is usually the warrior and herd protector. Then there are the maternals....cows, lionesses etc. If we paid enough attention I am sure we could find paternals and other characteristics as well... I think in higher species it is easier to identify...like elephants and whales.

The one thing I have decided about the world around me/us is that nothing ever changes. Only peoples perceptions of the world change, through personal growth, misfortune or just general experiences. So they then percieve and interpret the world differently despite nothing really actually changing.

My point being, nothing has changed in human kind for eons only the perception of ourselves and the world/universe has changed.

The question is still interesting though.. what if there are only humans in the universe on various planets and we are all just at different evolutionary points and can't recognize each other any longer... I still think we would find those fundamental human traits....despite thinking the others were aliens.

I also wanted to say that eveolution is readily evident today. When you see something that is described as freakish or someone who is born disfigured or different than thats nature attempting evolution.. to evolve...

7 legged sheep, 2 headed cows.... freaks or an attempt at evolving that didnt quite work out? Thats how it happens... the survival of the fittest concept fits in here... these pop up from time to time. If there is an advantage in the difference then it will survive and pass on from there.

so you see eveolution all the time right in front of you.... we just call it a freak of nature... but its an attempt at evolving.

BTW if anyone wins $250K off of my reasoning I want half. ok?

peace

Humanity is only part of everything elce. Of corse we're evolving. So are our dogs cats monkies dolphins and everything elce around us. Even broccoli and the flue. How many points of origion are there? Is there only one? Its all such a big giant miracle! Incredible aint it? What is "it" anyhow? How did we get something from nothing? Was "it" allready somewheres elce and "it" just came here? Where did it start out? When did it "start out" or was it always somewhere? --I think that by the time we got big heads and we're tall and skinny and we fly around in space ships, our dogs will ride with us but by that time theyl walk on their back legs and talk. I think everythings gettin smarter. How bout that.- Your dog wont wake you up barkin, he'l be yellin" Fukkin STRANGER in the yard!"

for one species to break off into two different ones, there has to be two groups that are completely separated without any contact for a LONG period of time. like being on two separate islands or being separated by a grand canyon that nothing can cross. then each separate group will evolve in two different directions and eventually become two different species. but if they have any contact, and the two gene pools mix together, they will not become two different species. airplanes and boats are why people will never break off into different species
