Evil Monkey Mini Grow- (LED, PC)

oh dear- I'm not doing this very well! Accidentally shot my post out before it was written!

Anyway- this is the box:

As you can see: mystery sativa is taking up quite a lot of room, and because I didn't scrog or train the AI she has buds that are squished up against the side and not getting much light.

Now if the MS was producing impressive buds then I would put up with this... but she's producing this so far:

No resin, anorexic buds. She's got no brown hairs, though and took a while to show anything.

I'm curious about how she'll do BUT, I don't want her holding back the AI. So I figure my options are:
1) Move the two plants around the box daily to get better light spread to each plant.
2) Keep the AI in the best light spot to give it the best chance
3) Keep the MS in the best light spot and hope she'll catch up
4) Chop the MS and move the AI into the middle, giving it the most light possible.

It's only a few popcorn buds at the bottom that aren't getting light and I'm still getting two 5-6" colas growing nicely, but maybe that's why they're only popcorn buds.... Your thoughts, ICMAG?

5) a new box for the sativa

i dont think its holding her back at all, shes flowering and not gonna grow any larger

Heh- if I had the space I totally would go for option five... I do have some spare LED screw-ins laying around.

Yeah I get what you mean, I was just wondering if the lack of light to the bud sites might have a detrimental effect on flowering? Think the sativa might pick up?

i think so, and by the time the other is finished, she has all the room to herself to finish? iffff you want to finish a real sativa

shit...

shit...

Found this today on the AI.

Chopped off the branch, it's got about a joint's worth of not-ready-yet bud on it that's untouched by whatever that is.

The rest of the plant looks ok.

Questions:
1) what the fuck is it?
2) do I need too chop the whole plant?
3) if not, what else do I need to do other than keep an eye on it?
4) is the other plant in danger?
5) just throw the un-touched bud, right?

Help!

looks like wet doghair.. must be one fat patch of mold

in theory, the spores are ALL over your plants, i would consider cleaning and trimming leaves and getting new fans/air setup

Ok- cool. I'll set about trimming a few unneccessary leaves now. I've got a spare PC fan too, so I'll wire that in with the main one to get some more circulation...

Everyone has their own techniques of getting rid of bud rot. Huffn is right, consider the spores everywhere. Some avenues are cutting away the rot and then spot treating with diluted vinegar with water. Works okay. Another is Serenade fungicide, stuff works really well, but smells foul (sour milk). And yet another is spraying some diluted neem oil with some kind of surfactant and water. Whatever you choose, def increase circulation.
I would personally cut away the rot and spray everything with serenade or neem. Most would say not to use anything during budding, but beats losing everything.

So...

I've taken off pretty much all of the big fan leaves from the AI and a lot from the mystery sativa.

I added in a circulation fan as well and that closet the cab is in is being kept open now unless guests are over. I'm thinking of getting some desiccant to dry the air in there. Probably going to get rid of anything that might hold moisture too.

Cleaning wise- I dont know when the next time I'll be able to get something proper... Maybe the weekend so it's vinegar and water until then!

wheres the intake in your pc?
whats rh and temp are u dealing with
can you cover the pots to slow down evaporation?

was that bud pressing against something that make it condensate?

Intake is front bottom, fan is back top.
Rh is about 55% last time I checked.
Yeah, I might try to cover some of the pots.

I think the problem was that there was a lot of unnecessary foliage in there, not enough air circulation and some pressing to the side of the plants. There's been no more bud rot... so fingers crossed. I'll post a pic later.

First a quick pic of the setup as is:

I've put a small but powerful (and fucking LOUD) fan blowing up in between the two plants. The pots are a little close in the pic but they're usually not that close and there's enough of a gap for decent intake from the fan. There's an obvious breeze within the cab now.

I've also done some defoliation of both plants, as you can see.

I realised that I should probably have the fans on 24/7 so they're now off timer and going that way. I'm also keeping the closet door ajar. Probably not as light proof as keeping it closed all the time, but I figure it's late in the game and it might stop me losing the entire plant.

I've started flushing the AI for the chop as well- I know it's only 6.5 weeks since flower started but I'm giving it 1.5 of flush to be ready for chop bang on 8 weeks. It's sub-optimal but I figure sub-optimal weed is better than losing the whole crop!

I know I need to modify the box in terms of light proofing (so I can move it out of that closet, which is probably getting humid) and add fans before next round.

Week 7 ends

Week 7 ends

Started flushing 4 days back now for the AI to be chopped. I haven't got a loupe (yet) but the hairs look mighty red so she's been getting water with the aim of cutting her down this wednesday.

Anyway- today I spotted a dry leaf sticking out from one of her two main colas. Now I don't want no dry leaf being a place for mould and shit to grow so I pulled that bad boy off. Might have pinched a little too hard at the base, though because the top of the cola came off!

I was wondering about the bottom because it looked a little gray but I'm looking at the close up photos and thinking it doesn't actually look that bad. Plus the bottom was dry and smelled just like weed should:

The top feels kinda dry and I wondered if maybe it was a little too close to the light?

Everything else looks ok. Early chop on wednesday.

Mr. Sparkle

looks like the stem may of been damaged before, which would explain why it would feel dry.

Your initial thought of a light would do it too, but you have to be pretty close for that.

The Chop

The Chop

The Aurora Indica is down at 7.5 weeks (previous bud rot and I lost my nerve, plus it looked about ready from the naked eye). Doesn't look like a terrible yeild for my first grow in this setup- just enough for me! Currently drying.

Dry weight and pictures to come.

The mystery sativa is still going (and looks like it can breathe!). I'm getting my loupe real soon so maybe able to judge ripeness for cut better but... there doesn't seem to be a damn crystal on the thing with the naked eye. I get the feeling it'll be straight to the hash/e-juice/edible factory when it''s done. Along with the AI trim, of course.

See you with the dry weight!
