Early Widow
Etolization
Among all the strains from the spanish bank Advanced Seeds, I am in love with Early Widow for several reasons. Not being the most productive of the bank, it produces so much resin and has such an incredible effect that has become my favourite. And I have cultivated all of them…
I tend to germinate really late: first of july, in order to be descreet. But germinating that late you can obtain small plants unless you do several things. First of all the choice: the best seeds. Secondly: I dig a 50 liters hole in the soil that I refill with excellent substratum. And finally I stimulate the seed using what in bonsai discipline is known as etolization.
Basically etolization is keep your seed in your refrigerator ( in the vegetables section) as dry as possible. I use a plastic box with river sand (the type used to make concret). In this section the temperature is 4 celsius degrees. After spending four o five days there, the seed is very stimulated to sprout with an enormous strength. Then it spends 24 hours in a glass of water and then to its final location.
By the end of july the plant is almost 6 feet high and by the 10 of august (beginning of flowering period) it passes this size. Using this practice I am able to start my cultures much later than usual and obtain the best results. And of course, thanks to fantastic seeds. Advanced Seeds is probably one the very best I know (not available in USA or Canada). And its Early Widow is a wonder. I recollected almost 800 grams by the end of September. Not bad at all in just 3 months!
