I have found plenty of great deals on craigslist and whoever thinks the cops are advertyising equipment there is crazy. In the u.s.a the government is paying big businesses to switch from the metal halides to fluorescents so they are more or less just giving them away to whoever will come to get them. Check out craigslist and search all for sale/wanted and use the word lights.

shh please be really paranoid so I can get things cheap from property room .com.if you are really concerned go to the next county over or have some tomatoes or or peppers ready to take place of your grow.beiing from california and having a med card I 'm more afraid of rippers ,landlady then police.
having a friend set up an account and ship to his address.
prices have gone way up since feds have relaxed their stance at least from what I have seen.
currently xtra sun ballast,hdrofarm hood,went for 72 and 40dollars the xtra sun were 1000 240/120 really nice no cords.i have picked up hydrofarm magnetic ballasts for 1000 watt from 16 to 50 some with cords cut which is a simple rewire job. can fan elicent fan vortex fan went from 80 to 200 bulbs used super cheapfor the price of a new 1000 watt you can get 6 used.mostly 1000 watt bulbs and some 600 bulbs.allegedly new hortilux 600 wre going for 36 dollars close of auction.there is a 5.95 to 9.95 handling fee,but still well worth it the cost compared to new shipping for heavy items like this is usually 30 to 40 dollars per item still under budget compared to new storebought items.

Yeah maybe CL isn't THE safest way, but as long as you make an anonymous email (REALLY EASY), use a disposable phone, meet in person with cash and never mention anything illegal; I don't really see how it could hurt you (where's the probable cause?). Plus, the DEALS are super. Personally, I don't think cops would go on craigslist (given how much illegal stuff is already on there etc) as much as people who have tried and failed at growing.
If you're super paranoid though, probably the "hitch a ride to a growshop" method would work better. Just be careful if you're planning on taking public transit because the ballasts are REALLY heavy.

i used to use mail order, like discount hydro but can't any more due to the small town i live in so now i drive out-of-state to get my gear. there are hydro shops closer, in same state but it's yet to legalized here (even tho the people voted med use in years ago!) and i try to take all precautions to stay safe until i'm legal here like i am in nevada.
one should also be concerned with what they do with the empty boxes; those empty specialty soil bags too...not many people outside of us use fox farms, lol...

^ good advice I love a fire place for destroying product labels and such. I also use large contractors bags have one in the garage now, it is filled with all kinda incriminating chit.. when full bring it to city dump without tying to close and kinda dump it out slightly when throwing it in dump.. I will attempt next time to just dump it out of bag... if questioned I will "play" the cheap bastard trying to save my bag!! heeehee errr

if you buy off internet tAke your plates off a few blocks before u get there.... buy in cash...
no ebay....

just dont have any boxes showing grow reflector stickers or etc. in the windows....
i about followed a uhaul F-150 home(there place!) when i saw 20+ reflectors in the bed...
use tarps people...
personaly im at my local grow store every other day, hang out, we smoke in there back room from time to time, so there like family.
no ebay....

if you're outfitting a small personal deal. Just order from htg, horticulturesource, midwest hydro - any big internet place.
if you're outfitting many thousands of watts of lights and hoods - maybe then avoid the online order, but anything smaller imho you're just lost in an enormous sea of orders and packages. Nobody has time to single out the guy getting a single 600w setup ups'd to him.
