Emergency transplant

Z

Ziggaro

I had to perform an emergency transplant today in soil. My girl was having bad lockout problems due to pH way too high.
I thought I was doing the right thing by shaking the high pH soil off the roots to put her in new soil, but after doing a little reading If that was a bad move? I transplanted out of my old soil into some fresh FFOF and watered with superthrive... I definitely disturbed the roots a LOT by shaking the soil off. Is it gonna die?

If she does die will the bud get ruined or can i still at least dry and smoke what has grown so far?

Thankyou as always

How old is the plant? she in flowering?

You should have took the rootball and rinsed it in water and got off as much soil as possible by means of water; I bet you broke a hell of lota roots.
Only time will tell; I am sure you caused some stunting......

Depending on how far a long in flowering you are it would be pointless to harvest her if she is mid flowering because the trichs would still be clear and the potency would be bunk and would not be worth your time.

How far a long in flowering is she? How much superthrive did you use?

There are other less brutal ways to deal with high pH soil than transplanting.

However if you must transplant, its best to try NOT to disturb the root system too much, especially on a flowering plant...yikes !

Oh my god... rinsing off the roots is something that should only be attempted on a very small new sprout, but I certainly wouldnt advise such a procedure, unless some new guy comes along who made the mistake of starting seeds in soil, when he really wanted to grow them in a hydro system.

Hopefully Ziggaro, you havent disturbed the root system too much and the transplant will go well once the plant(s) recover some. I would have ammended the ffof with more perlite so it has good drainage from here on thru harvest.

hth and good luck,
10k

Just pulled these Malawi x Haze out of the ground, (it's gonna freeze soon) and brought them in for the end of the run...... they should make it, though they look a little mad at me......

well from last night to this morning the plant looks the same-- not drooping or anything.

When I clipped some of the lower flower sites because they weren't getting light, i dried them and smoked them cos I was out... I GOT BLAZED!!! haha so it would totally be worth it to smoke for me, cos I don't have a stash :p
So if the plant dies will the bud die too and not be smokeable at all?

I used a little less than 1/4 tsp of superthrive for a gallon of water

Its about a month into flowering with some decent sized buds.

Believe me, I disturbed the heck out of the roots. I had the rootball in my hands patting the sides and shaking it to get the bad dirt off the roots!

sweet! at least i'll have something to smoke then :D my first run here has been a HUGE learning experience and I feel more and more comfortable with what i'm doing every day.

So the plant is on day 3 of the transplant and she's looking quite the same. Theres no drooping or anything, the plant just looks..well..the same. It isn't growing though...
any guesses on whether it might survive or not? or do i have to wait longer to see? Will it actually brown off and die or will it just stay the same in a state of shock?

as you can see from my photo above, a couple of the ladies I dug up started to droop.... if you are not seeing any signs at this point, then I'd venture to say that yours will make it... nice job with the transplant Ziggaro
