Could someone provide a link to one of the smart meter threads? I guess my searching ability is lacking.

What if your local city government also owns the power company!?
That's the case in a city near me....I wouldn't be surprised if they use cops to read the meters!

If you are really concerned about you power consumption and you have an old-fashioned meter... you are in luck my friend.
Go through the house and take inventory of all your appliances.
Electric hot water heater can be brutal on your bill. the same for clothes dryers. You can hook up an instant water heater and gas dryer to a propane tank. There is a thread out there explaining it.
Trash all incandescent bulbs for cfls. Vent the scrubbed air from your hoods to help heat the house.
If you have a smart meter, run your lights at 11/13.
I have heard that most strains will only lose 5% yield at 9.75 hours of light with one full day of darkness per week. That definitely does not fit the mo of a grow-op to leos.
The people at the power company probably only look for 12/12 usage to spot grows. It's doubtful that the have their analysts looking for non-standard photoperiods if the do have such a program set up.
