I hear people say the whole '1000 per bedroom' as a 'rule of thumb' Well why is that the rule? WHat if you have a 2-3 bedroom house on 2-3 acres of land with a big shop building?

Best way to hide electric use is to install a sauna.......they eat HUGE amounts of current, and who is to say how much time you spend in it....?

Either that or slap a huge electromagnet with a timer onto the back of yer electric meter, if it is an old one (mechanical).

Here we go again woohooo!!! Ok bro listen ill be the first one to tell ya so listen closley....PAY YOUR BILL IN FULL AND ON TIME AND YOU WILL BE FINE!

Outbuildings, pools, jacuzzis etc.. all pull mass power. So if you have a house with these on premesis, you can get away with more than ususal. I think the days of 1kw/bedroom are over. People are playing it super safe when they tell you that. You could easily do up to 2kw per bedroom without worrying bout red flags, as long as you keep your mouth shut and live a normal lifestyle. Do a search and you will find more of the answers you are looking for my friend.

You can also say you are a reptile collector if anyone questions your usage(which I am too). Anyone knows that keeping reptiles requires light and heat=lots of kilowatts.. Another one is saying you have a kiln.

The sauna suggestion is a good one also.

Just find a news article about electric rates going up. Normally it will cite the average household usage, and what the rate increase will cost the average house.

If memory serves, the average "household" uses about 2500 kw/h. That works out to roughly 5 1000 watt lights @12/12.

I've been using an average of about 3500 kw/hr for decades with no grow lights running, and haven't had anyone milling around the perimeter of my property wondering why I use more than average (that I know of). But if they'd like to come by for a meet and greet I can put the pit bull outside to say hi to their ass.
