Battery has gone. It's still counting units, but acting as a credit meter, not prepay. You can't see the screen, but it will still talk to the hand held reader.
You cards credit will max out, and wave a flag. You should stop using the card, as they will just think the property is empty.
A car battery will give you 100w for an hour. Invertor is cheap. Think about a battery charger to, so the battery is near full when the power is turned off.
A UPS is nice, but won't be as cheap. They tend to need modding to take a decent sized external battery like a car one, and have power-out sounders to defeat.
12v battery will need to provide about 10amps to make 100w. So you need 10 amps from it, for an hour. It needs to be a 10Ah (amp hour) battery. Most cars have about 40Ah. So an easy 2 hours.
Have your phone playing music nearby. When he pulls the power, deadly silence is expected, unless you have dug a hole for a second free supply somewhere.
You can expect them back in a couple of months, as a safety inspection. Especially if any seals are missing.
