It is not uncommon for houses in Canada to be lite up with 70+ 1kw bulbs, but thats with the house being rewired, and most use 100kw generators, but now you are talking 300gallons a day (I think that's what I calculated, or maybe 300gallons a week) anyway these are all organized. Everyone up here uses flip flops, so with a 100amp main breaker you can run 16 ballasts on 240v, so 32 lights all together, and stil have some fans and shit going, leaves you 20amps to pop that main breaker.
If you have a 200amp main breaker, now your cooking with butter you can run 32ballasts at once, and be able to have some ballast shut down for a while, so your ballasts last longer.
I dunno, 250 ballasts still is going to get you popped. Yeah you could probably rig your house up to run an ion cannon or some such shit however people are eventually going to notice. Running shit that big in one location is a stupid decision, if you're getting 100 million dollars a year you can afford to buy several houses instead of one...
What the fuck are you basing that on? Your own paranoia? Just cause YOU think it's going to get you popped doesnt mean it ACTUALLY will....so unless you know for sure, go spread your paranoia elsewhere.
Its not paranoia, its called common sense. People that run 16,000 watts off a 100 amp service would seem to lack a lot of common sense. Why else would we see them busted on the news all the time?
Maybe people in your neighborhood wouldnt question why one house on the block melts any snow within 10 feet of it. Mine they would.
Growing 16kw off a 100 amp service shows a lack of common sense regardless how much you think you know what youre doing.
Does canada toss common sense out the window because of a perceived perception that everyone grows?
Just cause you can do the math doesnt mean your using common sense by chewing thru 20 times the electricity as all your surrounding neighbors. Electric companies investigate large power draws where they arent expecting it, happens all the time.
First, why would using electricity below the rated amperage not be 'common sense'? That doesnt make any sense.
Yes electricity companies may look into the large power draw, but you just tell them when they call you, that you have a hot tub, or a pool or something. But I'm just sick of people telling people not to use large amounts of electricity, it's bullshit. Then you get every jackass kid worrying about a 400W light. In BC any house using more then 93kw/day is getting red flagged, thats about 8 lights on 12/12....This was just brought into legislation that these are no longer private records....
Anyway i'm not arguing this with people who have to worry about doing 25yrs for plants...it's different in canada, period.
