Effects of weed on testosterone and other things

I started smoking every day about 6 months ago or so, before that just weekend chillouts etc. I've noticed a lot more muscle mass actualy (exp abs, not fat!) and I stopped working out about a year ago which is wierd, starting again so we'll see what happens.

Also, no more heart palpitations since I have been smoking! Have gotten them for years.

Given his age height and body weight..he should be over 200 pounds and have a good eating and protein program..and Lifting the cold steel iron... knowing what works for him not for anyone else. Supposely one is to clean and detoxify for 6 months to a year for the liver.

I see that there are few guys on here who know a little something about bodybuilding. Most people who use rec drugs are totally against steroids and the bodybuilding lifestyle. And it seems that most bodybuilders are against rec drug usage. It seems to be the same with message boards as well. I belong to various bodybuilding boards myself being interested in bodybuilding since I was 7yrs old. Arnold Schwarzenegger proved that one can drink wine, smoke weed, and still make some serious goals in life. Ever watch Pumping Iron? Testosterone levels are effected by marijuana because it acts like an estrogen like substance once inside the body. I have seen men who smoked too much grow nipples. Most drugs in general have an adverse effect on the hypogonadal system which regulates Lutenizing hormone from the pituitary. Opiods are another class of drugs which can shut it down as well.

I have been a sucessful bodybuilder. At 6'3" and at my best around 250lbs around 6-7% bodyfat. Since then, I have backed off everything, including working out because my body needed a rest. I liked to toke up before working out. It helped kill the pain in my joints, and it helped me to concentrate harder on the weights. Many PR lifts were when I was stoned at the gym. At the age of 21 I started my 1st cycle, and it was too much. And I used progressively more. One can burn out from using too much hormone. Plus using too many different types can be confusing because you never know which one is working for you. That's why I now use test and one other synthetic hormone in my cycles. At age 22 is an ok age to start, but you still had a lot more room to grow naturally. I feel at 5'10" you should have been at least 200lbs before your 1st cycle that away you have a good base. That cycle above is WAY TOO much for you. And you should stay under 1000mg total hormone per week that is unless you are going to compete. Micro Magician, you are taking a total of around 1400mg per week in injectables and another gram for the first 4 weeks, which I think is a bit too much hormone. I would drop the test to around 500mg, the deca to 200mg, but keep the EQ dose the same to a total of 1000mg per week. I would then drop the A-50 dose to one per day since this is your second cycle, that is even if the A50 is even real. Real A50 at one tab a day is sooo strong! Taking 3 then you must have underdosed stuff or fakes. But at 5'10" you would have to be well over 200 more like 250-260lbs to compete in local comps. To compete in national comps at 5'10" you need to be around 300-320lbs offseason or 270+precomp. So why take that much if you are not going to compete?

I could go on and on and on with the subject of steroids, exercise, nutrition, but this is an MJ forum, so pm me if you have any Q's about this. I have written many articles about sports and ergogenics, as my degree & background is in exercise physiology, health, and nutrition. I have helped many with my advice and helped many in the sports industry.

To answer the question above, Yes marijuana can effect a man's testosterone level and estradiol levels. It is because MJ effects the hypothalamus/pituitary gonadal axis by shutting down luteinizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone from being released from the pituitary. Now how much one is effected is based on the user, frequency, and dose. As with anything, use in moderation.

One of my best friends is my primary care physician. Anytime a young male patient comes in and has gynecomastia(bitch tits or man boobs), his first question is "Do you or did you smoke marijuana?" I asked him why, and his answer is that mj is like estrogen. I work in a health care facility. Gynecomastia is a fairly prominent problem in men of all ages, but more common in older men. It can happen in younger men especially if you smoke too much mj, use other drugs(even antidepressants), and/or use steroids (coriticosteroids, testosterone). Another reason men can get gynecomastia is an elevation in prolactin levels which is caused by drug use. I am not against mj at all. Just moderation..that's key to everything in life.

So go ahead and laugh. Things like this can happen to any male. When it does happen, gyno is very painful and often requires surgery. I don't think it is funny at all.

i used to smoke an ounce a week back in the day. so did my friends. we were pretty much stoned all the time over several years...we were all heavy tokers...did all kinds of other stuff,too, not just pot.....none of us ever grew man boobs.

Yeah I waked and baked for years 24/7, but never grew boobs. But out of a few hundred guys I knew that smoked, I saw a handful that had symptoms or full blown gyno.

It is the same thing as when an 80 yr old says, "I smoked a pack of cigarettes a day for 60yrs and never got cancer." Everyone's body is different. Not saying that "growing boobs" will happen to everyone, I said it can happen. Back in the day, when you were younger, you pumped out massive amounts of testosterone during puberty compared to a middle aged male. Testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) compete at breast tissue sites where estrogen attaches to. So you are less likely to get gyno then, unless someone is prone to it. Ever watch that Seinfeld episode where Kramer likens to the idea of "The Bro" or "Manzier"? It occurs more often in older males than younger.

A males testosterone level decreases by 1% every year after the age of 20yrs. Ever hear when people say, "Wait till you hit 30, you won't be able to eat all of that and still be skinny!" Well the reason for that is a lack of testosterone and growth hormone levels. So at 30yrs of age, your body will produce 10% less testosterone than when you did at 20yrs of age. So imagine when you are 70+. The Grumpy Old Man Syndrome.

They haven't been conditioned into our belief system yet. Their beliefs to a certain extent are more inline with what people outside this community believes.

When I first got on OverGrow, I couldn't believe how many people took pot so lightly, smoking not just everyday, but throughout the day, everyday.
