A grower once advised me not to use shrimp meal or any other crustacean meal, because they can cause 'off flavors' in the flowers which he described as "soapy."
He simply uses amended organic soil and waters as needed. No additives, no teas, no foliars, no chemicals or bottled nutes. So, he does not blame the soapy flavor on anything genetic or otherwise, just the crustacean meal. He told me that, throughout his experience, different amendments have had different affects on the same genetic varieties.
Has anyone else experienced this or know someone who has?
Could it have something to do with the different forms of microbes that come with different amendments? Do microbes have an effect on terpene expression or cannabinoid development in general?
If so, how so?
I'm looking for knowledgeable answers, no guesses.
