heres the only def. I saw on my 3 deez' ...added some calmag the other day, maybe they will snap out of it soon. under the light it looks yellow but when the lights are off its still nice and green, just a spec of lightening around the edges of the leaves, not burn. thanks for any info fellas!
Dude, when you first mentioned this I'm like, "Yes . . . finally! This is the same thing I have . . .", only my "def." then becomes more pronounced -- with the lightening leaf edges, and the tips especially, rapidly turning yellow to reddish purple in places and then real crispy brown; all bordered by yellow/orange going toward center leaf with tiny yellow and brown spots and general interveinal clorosis -- all starting mainly near the top of the plant. I'd really love to post pictures of this problem but my security is for shit just now.
It's actually kinda purty once it gets fairly advanced -- like Fall colors for weed.
Anyway, this little surprize just puzzled the hell out of me as I was using the same GN nutes 3-2-1 gro formula (minus any x-tra mag , by way of Epsom Salts), a mix which had always worked more than fine for me on other strains. So, . . . I studied the excellent def. & problem type sticky here at IC which, by and large, indicated this to be a Mg or maybe cal. def . . . or that perhaps it might be an OD of another nute or mico leading to such. It indicated this could also be root-rot or a pest of some sort. Hmmmm . . .
Oh well, as I was growing in a soiless Perl/Verm mix for transfer to hydro later, I added the recommended amount, 1/2tsp Ep.salts per gal., to the 3-2-1 mix, and I made sure the media drained well and dried out good between doses. I also sprayed the grow area and soiless soil surface (but not the plants themselves)for pests, as I had seen some of those little piss-ants running 'round, plus maybe a fungus gnat or two.
Long story short: things improved generally and most of the plants, all are clones of 2 ECSD pheno's, BTW, never had the problem to begin with. Still, those beautiful but crazy-colored leaves would start up here and there, quite inconsistantly. This led me to believe it might be some pest, those damn piss-ants for instance, could be spreading a disease or fungus around. Still, I hate to imagine spraying the plants themselves -- even with Neem or Safer.
There again, I never did add any Cal. -- as all I have is in the form of hydrated and dol. lime and I wasn't sure what either of these might do to the Ph. Anybody know?
I guess I really need to go check out this Cal Mg formula and see if it's compatable with hydro. I sure want to try adding Cal before actually spraying the plants with some goo.
Great thread! Major kudo's to Chaco for starting a discussion on ECSD, a plant that has to be in everyone's top 5, if they have it.
