Hydro Growers:
1. Are you growing from seed or clones? Clones
2. How old are your plants? 4 weeks
3. How tall are your plants? 12 inches
4. What type of hydro system are you using? Ebb-n-Grow
5. What brand/type of nutrients are you using? GH, Micro, Bloom
6. What is the Ph of your nutrient solution? 5.8
7. What is the PPM/EC of your tap water? 150
8. What is the PPM/EC of your nutrient solution? 550
9. What is the temperature of your nutrient solution? 70 degrees
10. Does your PPM/EC show a rise or fall when you do your daily PPM check? Holding @550ppm
11. Does your pH show a rise or fall when you do your daily check? Very slight rise
12. Do you foliar feed or spray your plants with anything? No
13. What kind of lights do you use and how many watts combined? (HPS, MH, fluorescent, halogen, incandescent "plant lights") 400 HPS on them now
14. How close are your lights to the plants? 13 to 16 inches
15. What size is your grow space in square feet?
16. What is the temperature and humidity in your grow space? Temp = 76 Humidity = 65%
17. Have you noticed any insect activity in your grow space? No

O.K. This is the deal...
These plants were started in Coco, they were a little stressed before the move into hydroton.
They have been in the Ebb-n-Grow for 7 days now.
Flooded 4 times a day.
You can see from the pictures of the Yellowing going on, I was trying to be carefull to not over-fert. If I pull some of the hydroton away from the plants I can see nice white roots spreading. The tops are green but not the green they should be.

Is it I am just underfeeding these girls right now?? I know that after 7 days they should be doing alot better!!

This is my first time W/this system & trying to dial it in

They dont look to bad to me though possibly a bit small for 4 weeks old, and a bit yellow.

Firstly - as it's pretty standard advice - I would give them a good couple of minutes of flushing out with water adjusted to pH 6.3 to pH 6.8, to clear out any nasties in the hydroton. It's unlikely to make much difference but wont do any harm.

Next - Your nutrient solution is a bit acidic at pH5.8. I'd bring it up to pH6.5. A low (or high) pH can affect nutrient uptake. (ph5.8 is right for starting seeds in rockwool but is too low otherwise)

And then... They may be a bit nitrogen deficient. At this stage (and size) of your grow there is no harm giving them a dose of "grow" nutrients as an alternative to "flower". This should perk them up a bit and give them a burst of growth.

And finally... is your air ok? Make sure the plants are getting plenty of fresh air.

i always run my ebb flow system at 5.5-6.0 pH had no problems,,as you can see with my First Grow Link ..(my first grow in Hydro that is  ) and use GH nutes as well.

Def look N deficient though..

I run my ebb n flow hydroton containerized system at 5.8-6.2.
I think we should focus on another issue:
How large is your reservoir, adn how many of those 12" plants are in there?
Your ppm is low for vigorously-growing plants; if anything, you should note a slight DROP over the course of the day. I am wondering whether you have too much biomass on too small a res, and the transpiration is making a net loss of water and rise of EC in the system.
Mix up a spray bottle of your GH Micro at about a teaspoon per quart and give a light foliar mist with it to slow the spread of the deficiencies while you sort out WHY you are seeing them.
Do you know what the hardness of your water as CaCO3 is by any chance?
I'd say:
-Get a bottle of calmag and before mixing up your res, bring it to about 250ppm with the calmag, THEN add your nutes to about 800ppm total, THEN do the pH adjustment if needed. MEasure ppm after the pH adjustment again, and record that number. Check back after 24h and see what has happened. Also record the water level and note how much it has dropped.

Also how are you oxygenating the nute solution? I just googled ebb n gro and the res appears fully enclosed, and I didn't notice any specs for an aerator... I might be in my after-lunch slump though... lol

Thanks for the advice all...

I was worried about burning them when I first put them in there, thats why the low ppm.

The res. is 55 gal. and no aerator... It gets oxygen from filling the controller box for the feeding... then another pump puts it back to the res. untill next flood. Back & forth w/the nutes.(water)

What I did this morning was add Cal-mag. After the addition of that my ppm is at 700 right now.

Hoping that this is basically just underfeeding?

sounds like it is. But you definatly should get a small air pump and a couple air stones to put in the res i think

All right you are definitely getting warmer. I still think you should hit them real quick-like with a weak mix of the micro as a foliar mist to try and get them greened back up quicker.
