I tried sandpaper on these I tried gently cracking the shell slightly. Nothing worked until I found this. I am glad they sprouted at all even if I only get males I will harvest the pollen. Then keep trying until I get a female. I am one determined chick!I’m along for the ride. I had some stubborn somewhat older seeds I sandpapered and they sprouted well after. Good job on this...
That’s one of the reasons I seem to have old seeds slack every time when hit them up ? can get some to crack, but then they just stall out and don’t do anything once they get planted.. fresh seeds are amazing in their response I once I F2’ed C 99 when I first got it and I lived off of that for years ..you just looked at them and they would sprout …Hopefully Jan, my experience with tiny tails ain't good.
In fact they normally stall out and get pitched.
Hope it pans out for ya
May just put them in the 30 gal container if they both are femaleI put them in a 3 gal pot. If they are both boys or one of each. I will keep them in my room. If They end up both female I will put them outside in June
Not so good so far! Nothing!Great let me know how it goes.
Good luckIn my experience, as well as that of a lady grower from Jerome, Arizona, the secret is to plant directly in good soil that is high in Mycorrhizae, the beneficial fungus that aids plant roots in absorbing nutrients:
"A mycorrhiza is a symbiotic association between a fungus and a plant. The term mycorrhiza refers to the role of the fungus in the plant's rhizosphere, its root system. Mycorrhizae play important roles in plant nutrition, soil biology, and soil chemistry." - Wikipedia
In the process of germing 40 year-old Mexican seeds that germed last year without a male. Will be a timeless, genetic building block if successful. Imagine 40 year-old genetics, untouched by the hybridization that has been hitting even remote landraces for the last 40 years. Priceless.
An experienced grower friend in Cali tried all of his special methods on 5 seeds and had no germination. He shared 5 more seeds with a germ plasm specialist in Los Angeles who also had no success.
Stay tuned.
