Are there any signs which show before the pollen pods start to show?

I'm not aware of such, but subbing for any info
would be like preflowering for females i would guess
with magnification letting you see sooner(maybe)

yes there are little nubs that form where the pods that eventually drop pollen sacks form, ime it shows a week or two before females

It seems to me ... and I exist on the boundary between reality and senility ... that when there are multiple dope plants in a garden the taller stretchy-looking ones are usually the male ones. BUT you have to know your variety and you might be wrong.

Females will show themselves sooner...just look for that single little hair... (you need good up-close eyesight for this)

For me, any young seedlings who haven't positively shown me this will get careful scrutiny until I know for sure...and assumed to be male..

Agreed with Teddybrae on average males tend to be the taller ones, with less side branching but time will tell.

Male pre flowers tend to be more round then tear drop shape at the very beginning just my 2 cents

I will try to get a pic next time but it's gonna be a minute before I start new seeds, it's super obvious once you see it, it's a small round nub that is easy to distinguish from a calyx
