dwc to rdwc

i've got a dwc system with 7 five buckets total (one for res) with one inch holes connnecting each of the buckets together. my question is, in order to make it recirculate, all i need is a water pump? and if i were to add a water pump, how might i go about doing so? im looking at submersible pumps now. what would be efficient for a system like this? any help is appreciated...

you would need the buckets to drain into a reservoir. at the reservoir you will do all your water testing/changes etc as well as the reservoir will house your pump. from the pump inside the reservoir you will have a water outlet that fills into the first bucket. this will continue until the water reaches the reservoir again. A submersible pump will be most efficient in this situation. I run a dwc not a rdwc but I would imagine you might benefit (if not require) an air stone to keep the water full of oxygen in case the flow from bucket to bucket is not significant enough to keep the water healthy.

I hope I cleared something up for you. good luck

thanks for the response.

so my buddy's letting me use his submersible pump; you can attach a 1 ince waterhose to it. know anywhere i can go for a quick how-to on installing water pumps? im not really interested in having the undercurrent, as much as i want the water to recirculate (so i can get a more accurate reading on the whole system...) im not sure how many gph it is, but it's free, so i gotta at least see if i can get it to work...

any help on this matter would be great... thanks.

dont go with a submersible pump unless you have a chiller. go with an inline pump. mag driven. if you just want it to recirculate you could put in a drip system that is more like a flow system check my thread and watch the video you will get a good idea of what i am talking about
