He finally admitted that he didn't buy into it, and that he and most other dutch citizens don't care about cannabis use, to them it's a non-issue... the real story is they get all kinds of pressure from neighbouring France, Belgium, Germany etc about the constant flow of people bringing personal amounts back on the trains.

That's how it is, and that's why they tried push through the weedpass too. Gotta look like you're doing something, while everyone with half a brain realizes there is nothing to be done that helps, except legalize. Well, legalization movement in whole of EU is reaching critical mass and victories in US give it extra momentum. It's all going to fall down like an avalanche, next few years are going to be very interesting year on this front.

BTW, the Dutch system - as much as I enjoy my yearly visits there and their coffeeshop culture - is pretty crappy. I mean, it's totally unregulated, imports, production and wholesale are illegal and thus in the hands of organized crime.

ahhhh, the good old "percentage thingy"... always reminds me of the "skunk" stories printed over the years, to be honest to me it looks like another "facade" where the dutch have to pretend as if trying to change their stance. as chimera stated before, there is NO way for them to controll even 5% sold, without forcing coffeshops to all buy from 1 producer, whos produce gets controlled.

This is just proof that decriminalization simply does not work. For years the dutch left the model open and pragmatic, and the system just rolled along.

Absolute legalization is the only solution to deal with the cannabis issue. Only under complete legalization can quality be monitored throughout the production and distribution system, ensuring compliance of the producers and retailers, and safety of product for consumers.

Agree decriminalization doesntt work. Selling weed legally yet leaving the supply unmonitored in the hands of criminal organizations is a fundamentally flawed model.
