VERY informative articles - I would of never guessed. I would laugh so hard if they tried to sell me something like this... another reason to grow it yourself.

this article is downright disturbing! I hope this isnt widespread, because using the buds for kief and hash and then selling them is just messed up......

the labeling is kinda confusing... bio just means grown in dirt, but could still have been sprayed with checmicals weird

The habitual ripping off of the tourist by "legitimate" Coffeehouses... why if the word got out about that, it could be very bad for business.
I see The Greenhouse Coffeeshop(s) get mentioned as one of the more ethical coffeeshops in the Dutch market.


Wherever "Coffeeshops" pop up in the world, I'd imagine these unethical practice's will follow, thieves are thieves, nature of the beast and all that, some people just find it disagreeable to be honest... certainly not as profitable.


Perhaps we should develop our own (non-flaming) top ten list of reputable Coffeehouse establishments that could be recommended to fellow ICforum members if they were to find themselves vacationing in the Netherlands...as it is, I can get screwed locally on a pot deal if I wanted, I don't need to travel internationally to have that opportunity.

I believe that shaking is quite common especially in the tourist coffee shops near to CS – you can’t blame them ‘Mop and Bucket duty’ is one of the worst aspects of working in a coffee shop and they get a lot of tourists who are not use to strong weed

I was walking into the Greenhouse Centrum last summer and they were carrying a tourist out – he was spark out unconscious – so I said to one of the coffee girls that it was a good advert for the shop and she said he was the second that day!! – that’s what happens when you have a shop near Central Station and don’t shake

As to the top 10 - this can change - best to go to Seeds Direct and get the latest inside info when you arrive in Amsterdam

I allways thought holland was the popt-paradise, but I gess I am somewhat wrong...
I agree a top ten list for cofee-shops should be established, a non rip-off smoke guide.
By the way, I am planing to go to Maastricht and I am interested in good addresses.

Except - I was there a couple of weeks ago - and Space Cake is very definately back on the menu - even at Dampkring for the first time I can remember !

but if you smoke as much as I do Space Cakes is just food - you are better off buying some nice food and some good hash and mixing it yourself

Thank you very helpful im planning on going just dont know when id like to get some more cash together first. Had a friend who went and had a couple bad experiences with locals(bums) ,bad cafes mainly bait and switch got really ill still to this day have no idea what caused not to be gross but were talking about dyarea so bad he almost died of dehydration. So now he goes around negatively promoting amsterdam but after reading a couple of the guides in here and showing him how cool gn was and everbody ive convinced him to go again we just have to set a date thank you
i do know how to spell dyarea it just makes me sick to actually soell it there a disgustingness to the word and for the goofiest reason i feel more comfortable mis spelling it

Ok got back from the Cannabis Cup 2004 acouple weeks ago. Lungs are still recooperating. But well My friends and i came up with a list if anybody is interested. We are 3rd time veterans of the cup so we know a little bit about the shops.
De Dampring
Barney's Breakfast
420 Cafe
Greenhouse ( there is 3 - 1 is small and quite, 2nd is in the middle of the red light district- 3rd is kinda far from the Centrum but is huge and worth the journey.)
Tweede Kamer
Amnesia
Sensi Seeds (don't sell weed but awesome to chill upstairs)
Grey Area
Bushdoctors
Chocolata ( they have very good inhanced chocolate for sale there)


Only 2 bad reviews this year.
KINGSTON near the grasshopper on the Damrak. Don't go there. They don't seem to like tourists or something and won't let you examine the weed.

Greenhouse was very very cool to the Judges but we seen a waitress who had worked a 12hr shift try to come back and buy some hash and they wouldn't let her in to buy some was pretty messed up. Felt bad for her but they should know who works for them you would think.

I know its not A-dam but anyone get over to Haarlem to any of the 3 Willie Wortels?Id like to get there one day and meet the man N.VS. And Try some of the PowerPlant. They have some new rooms above the Sativa that are like mini apts. Anyone know how long by Tramm or whatever it is from A-Dam and the Grey Area?Like to hit there too to try the Grey Mist.

Well Den Haag is only a 25 min train ride no tram. And Harleem is closer to the Dam so should be 15-20min ride. Roll acouple on the train to pass time usually what i do. Have fun wish i was with you. And no i have read about Willy Wortel (Dutch Problem Solver) for those that don't know who are what he/it is. But am going to be visiting there shops for sure next year and i love the Sativas. don't roll a couple on the train - smoking has been banned on Dutch trains since the start of this year (thanks to the eurocrats ) - still its only 15mins to Harlem and the nearest Willie Wortels is right by the station - so its not too long to last :wink:

Jubei - what about the Katsu ? - second in this years cup , second best / arguably the best HAZE menu in Amsterdam and great hash and a nice place to hang out - and yet no mention ?

I said Roll a couple on the train not smoke them on the Train i know the rules and i know they were giving tickets to tourists or even arresting some who were smoking in high tourist zones as they call them. I have a dutch friend who lives in Rotterdam and he is my guide everytime i come so i am famaliar with the dutch customs. Now for the Katsu it is quite far it is quite far away so did not reach my top ten cuz of the distance from the Centrum. It is worth the journey but i don't feel there Menu is that good. And if it ain't Nederhash then i don't even wanna look at it. Rokeriji got 2nd for Royal Cream but i didn't mention there coffeeshop either cuz well just ain't worth it. I have become very very picky so i prefer Amnesia where they let look at it in a microscope and All the weed is stated as Bio and your lungs can tell the difference. Rusland is another good shop but is out of the way. Many to state but they were asking for a top ten. Good Luck See you in the Dam

after reading this article.. it makes me thing twice about the dam.. I mean dont get me wrong im sure that most places are totally awsome.. but I cant believe they would be that shady / cheap towards their customers.. I mean being shady / cheap in the US is a givin because weed is illegal here.. but in the dam its legal.. so get a pole building and get a bigger operation going!

i haven't come across a shop that rips ppl off but i am very picky and almost never buys prepackaged wiet. I would always recommend it as a vacation for a pothead. If you grow you know . Good Luck Jubei
