Everyone at the HIGH TIMES office gets super-stoked whenever we see landrace genetics – and when those heirloom strains are grown well and top out at over 20% THC, as with this entry from Highland Health at the 2011 Denver Cup, well, it gives us chills. The old-school Durban Poison is as good as it gets when done right. One has to wonder, given the strain’s history and the fact that this entry came from Denver, if altitude played a part in how well it turned out.
Great pictures. I can see that the first pic of Durban looks very inbred and airy. The durban did well but the spot I had it in did not get the sun it usually gets. I am happy with the buds though. Not the yield I was hoping for. Happy to get what I got. We are still trimming and haven't got to it yet. Soon though. We are getting ready to make seed as soon as the cuts are big enough. Peace
And of course theres new Durban choices... RCMC has some semi-auto durbans, and dutch passion has a full auto Durban. Secret Garden/Joint Dr ogre has Durban too...
An old school friend of my mom's sourced his pure landrace "Durban Poison" in KwaZulu-Natal and the people he received the seed from called it DP as well. There are other strains in Durban that are simply referred to as "Durban" due to the grower only knowing its origins, and not the name. I'm sure there are some people that refer to real DP as just Durban too. There's only one true Poison in my mind though.
