Durban Superskunk 1000w SOG grow diary

So we added 8 more durban ssk's to the table, and it ended up the plant I put on the edge of the table, in coco, was a male, so he's been replaced with another coco plant.

That makes...... 5 durban ssk at day 38 of bloom, 5 durban ssk, 1 blueberry sativa, 1 unknown indica bagseed, and 3 1985 bagseeds 24 days into bloom, the mom of the unknown indica mom in coco on the side of the table at day 5 bloom, and 8 durban ssk's, 2 days in. I'll take 8 durban ssk clones, and 8 1985 B clones in the next couple days.

So, as far as the bagseeds are concerned:

The mystery indica bagseed barely stretched at all, I'm guessing I'll end up only getting a few grams off her. She has the least trich development of anything in the table, and smells really piney, in a generic way. Not what I'm looking for.

The blueberry sativa is about 3 feet tall, it's definitely the tallest thing in the table now, and has the second least trichomes. Amazingly, despite how tall she is, she only has 1 top, growing like a vine. No Xmas shape in her at all. She smells STRONGLY of blueberry, like some blueberry smelling chemical or something.

Ahhhh, the 1985 bagseed, may very well be my next main genetics. I got two pretty similar phenotypes, and both looks like they're gonna yeild an average amount. Not as stretchy as the DP X SSK or the BBS, but more stretchy than the mystery indica by far. Plants are all about 1 foot tall, and sticking to the traditional x-mas tree shape. Only difference I could tell between the 2 phenotypes so far is that 1 wants more N than the other, so it looks lighter green. Crystal development is INSANE on both phenotypes! I mean like trichs covering the fan leaves already, and it smells like a fruity cat pissy mixture.

I'll see what I can do about getting some pics up soon.

The table with the 8 new durban ssk clones:

Crappy piney indica bagseed mom, now in bloom on the edge of the hydro table:

Up next, the suspected blueberry sativa. It sure reeks like almost a chemical induced blueberry smell, like so blueberry it;s almost artificial smelling:

Afore-mentioned crappy piney indica bagseed thing:

And, with much ado, and endless barrage of pictures of the only real "keeper" bagseed from this run, which I have begun to call "Frost Queen". All these pics are from today and yesterday, no later than day 28 of bloom, by my math:

i see alot of your plants have issues, looks to be damage on every one of them. why is that ? i think you should try some soil plants as they are more forgiving to mistakes or at least figure out whats going wrong. yeild looks low as well, i think you should veg your plants as it seems like your not using the full potential of your 1000w light.

So I stopped using Tiger bloom entirely, and the burns stopped immedietally, go figure. We ended up getting an average of a half oz off each plant, got about 4 1/2 oz total off the 10 plants I chopped last. We'll chop the next 5 on Thursday, they look to be a little bit bigger than the last ones. The group of clones 2 weeks behind them are doing GREAT so far, largest and most robust yet. I'm finally starting to see the stretch I got when I vegged the durban ssk for a month before flowering, so all's well in that front. I have 6 frost queens and 8 durban ssk's rooted and rearing to go, so we'll get those in the table on friday or so.

Oh, the newest clones are the biggest yet, and they're ALMOST the tallest plants in the table now. I'm so happy to be finally getting everything dialed in :D

This is truely an interesting thread for me. I'm growing with hps for the first time (my previous grows were cfl) and this is also the first time I'm doing a SOG.
I'm not sure exactly how much my clones should be vegged but tonight will be their first 12 hour night. Their heights are a little varied in size so I guess I'll find out what size is optimal for my plant spacing.
I hope you don't mind me hijacking - here are my plants 2 days ago:

Nice plants Blackone, what ages are all of them?

After much strenuous research, I've discovered with a fair amount of certainty that this whole "Frost queen" is most likely an NL S1, as it's from Seattle, in the 80's, and carries lots of similarities to the old NL. Seems so far I got 2 phenos, one that smells sweeter, finishes faster, yeilds lower, and looks a little more potent, and one that yeilds FAR more, smells sour, finishes slower, and looks a LITTLE less resiny.

Let's see here, what's going on in the garden....

5 DP x SSK, the indica bagseed, and the 1 sweet pheno NL in the table will get the axe on Tuesday. These are the last of the Tiger Bloom fed plants, hopefully from here on out things won't get nearly so fried. I'll let the sativa bagseed and the sour pheno NL go for a little while longer. Some of the 8 DP x SSK clones I put in the table 3 weeks or so ago are looking GREAT, and I put another 7 DP x SSK and 4 sour pheno NL's in the table about a week ago. The new DP x SSK's are growing very well, the fastest I've seen so far, and the NL seem to be doing the same thing they did last time.

Here's the whole table:

A one week old, and then a 3 week old DP x SSK:

The sativa bagseed, doesn't look too special, but I did fry the hell out of it, so we'll try it again without Tiger Bloom, see what it does:

The sweet NL looks SUPER crystally, and I bet when I grow it again, and don't fry the shit out of it, I'll get a better yeild:

The Sour NL looks like it'll need a week and a half to finish up, but it's definetly the hands down winner of all the new genetics so far:

I'll take some pics of the DP x SSK that will be ready on Tues like tomorrow or something.

The big plants in the front are the original seedplants I took the clones from. Most of the clones were taken Sep 22. The smallest clones in the picture were put in 2 days before 12/12 was started. I think the larger ones had perhaps a week of veg under the big light, but also a week or more veg under flouros. It seems like to me that it isn't so much the size of the clone but more the development of the root system that matters, because even most of the smallest clones are stretching ok now that I'm 7 days in.

Yeah, I agree completely.. I'm getting far better root development now than I was when I started this, and the plants are a whole lot bigger.

Sure!

*jams nug into ethernet port*

Should be getting there any time now, I hope you're not on dial-up!

So do you guys think that it makes any sense to let the sativa bagseed go for another week, or did I fry it's fan leaves so much that it probably won't photosynthesize much, and thus won't really grow much more, and might just rot????

7 or 8 dp x ssk clones go in the table in the next couple days, 8 get chopped on the 22nd, another 7, as well as 4 nl get chopped 2 weeks after that. I'll try to get some pics up sometime soon, I promise.

Math was a little off, the next plants really get chopped on the 17th, in 10 days, then the 1st for the group after that. Then I have a 23 day gap before the next chop, but oh well...

This is looking really promising. Only problem I see with such a setup is that they're all fed the same nute strength although they're at different flowering stages? Also you don't have any option for flushing your plants?
