OK Have not read any input on this subject. Lets say I have a room full of killer buds flowering and I am running a carbon scrubber how effective are these against drug sniffing pooches.........Scenario My next door neighbor has some type of issue and the coppers show up and one of them has there sniffer doggy with them. Will the Dog detect my place or will the carbon scrubber save my ass. Basically lets say my neighbor got the piggies called on him and they are searching his property but I am doing what I am doing do I need to worry or can thme dogs still detect the ganja..............Hope this will bring some good input for safety and learning purposes. I have always wondered about this.............whatdaya think............

they are not just trained but are bred for there sense of smell, they are the elite, and a no joke. those dogs from the day they are born are raised on scent, so if any of those dogs come near your house, esp if you live in the city as they get the top dogs, be prepared my friend.

whatever breed it is, i thin german shepard, they chose the dog with best sense of smell and after over 30 years of scientific training and breeding, youd be pretty much fucked.

lets put it like this, if you can smell it, the dogs will smell it from 200 yards away.

Man this is some scary shit.......I wonder how many growers are concerned with this. One incident on your block and you could be screwed......... :badday:

the smell has to be contained or irradicated (carbon filters, ducts and whatnot), i dont grow indoor so i wouldnt know. but if you dont have the faintest smell outside and you have carbon filters and your grow room is sealed, i think you would be fine

I would think that given:
1. an adequate amount of carbon and
2.not venting directly to the outside and
3.having negative pressure in your grow box/room.....
you should be okay.

I have put activated carbon in a 5 gal. bucket to make my scrubber........put my nose right up to one of the venting holes & the only thing I smell is fresh sweet air. (I'm no dog though)

Just seal your grow real well & don't let any air escape except through the scrubber.

Buy in bulk a bag of activated carbon & build your own scrubber.........it's cheap. Just make sure the air passes through abut 2 inches of carbon before it's expelled.

So Im guessing good carbon filtration would trick there noses from smelling the flowers I would hope............ :chin:

The molecules that the dogs would smell stick to the carbon...........that's how it works. Doesn't mask anything. Eventually you have to change the carbon to keep the filter working properly.

when I was in amsterdam I was talking to the people at Homegrown Fantaseeds and they where saying that they have washed the tins that space cakes come in over 3 times in a dish washer and the dogs could still smell it

To give you an idea of how sensitive a dogs nose can be, people who send weed thru the mail sometimes get busted even when using vacuum sealed bags. Now if done properly a vacuum sealed package is undetectable. What happens though is people are often handling the bud with their bare hands when putting it into the bag to be vacuum sealed. This gets resin on their fingers and then they handle the sealed bag and get resin on the outside and BAM it's now detectable to the dogs again.

It would probably have to be a raid on a known drug house to warrant using a K-9 so if your neighbors don't deal drugs then that scenario shouldn't happen except under rare circumstances, as was eluded to earlier dogs are bred and trained for specific types of searches, so a dog trained for bombs may not react to weed for example.

When planning your grow and it's security you do need to take into account things such as problem neighbors that draw lots of police attention. If say for example you lived next to a group of teenage buddies running a party house, or say a rock band, drug dealers, a couple with an abusive spouse, etc. You may want to think twice about growing on your home property especially if whatever type of neighbor, they get visits from the local police frequently. Likewise you also consider your actions. For example, a friend of mine was growing a couple plants indoors. His upstairs neighbor made lots of noise and my friend got upset and called the cops. Well standard procedure for something like that is to contact the complaintent and/or try to witness whatever the complaintent was experiencing. So the police came to my friends door and much to my friend's surprise they wanted to come in and hear the noise themselves. Fortunately my friend was able to remain calm and show the noise problem without showing the plants. But he did admit one of the officers kept looking towards the room the plants were in. Of course my friend was also an idiot because this was in a condominium complex and he had no carbon scrubber or any odor control going. He lucked out and the cops left and never came back but he almost got busted for complaining about someone else. Proving you need to think carefully and avoid things that will trigger such a situation. Which means things like no parties, no domestic violence, no drawing attention to your home or any member of your family, of course the obvious like never show or tell anyone of your grow beyond what we do here. The less who know specifically where you're grow is or that you grow, the better. It's hard enough to get growers to keep their own mouths shut about the appropriate things, so it would be crazy to think we can keep other people's mouths shut.

Anyway one basic principal is that the less cops come around the better, less chance for them to possibly notice something to make them look closer.

There is a K-9 unit living two yards away from my grow and has been for five yrs now. That dog has never alerted on me and has been around me plenty right after I got done puffin.

Keep yer friends close but your enemies closer, I live around five different cops all are decent with me and I'm the last one they'd suspect of growing. Esp. right under their noses..
