I blame the movies "Breaking Away" and "Quicksilver"
Lol, I was going to say that every once in a great while you get a "quicksilver" guy that actually can keep up with side street traffic, beat it even sometimes, but then there's the 99.9% of the rest of the ass clowns that can't even come remotely close to doing it, but try anyway.

And they wear the gayest outfits ever, half of them with big pot bellys hanging over, yeah, you're some pro level biker that needs all that crap, lol.
An outfit like that would get you beat up when I was a kid, same with wearing a bike helmet, strictly for the short bus crowd in my day.

you know what? I CANNOT stand bicycle riders who choose to ride in the street. When I ride a bike, and there is a sidewalk, you best believe I will be on that sidewalk riding my bike. I seriously WANT to ride into these bikers who choose to ride in the street versus on the sidewalk.. yea sure the sidewalk was made for walkers, but realistically, if you plan on living or staying injury free, wouldn't you want to ride on the side walk?

I really think a lot of these bicycle riders ride in the street because they WANT to get hit, and file a law suit. Why would they honestly believe they are so safe by riding in the street? They should atleast be required to wear full body pads if they are going to be riding in the street. Not just one of them dumb ass helmets. Im talking full gear from the feat on up.

Yeah this chick should not have been driving after a night on ecstacy.. ive taken many tabs of ecstacy, and very rarely was I feeling normal within 36 hours of swallowing it. This should not be titled "while stoned..." it should be titled "while coming down off of X"...

also, green tounge? what the fuck? what was his purpose of adding that to the story? only way you get a green tounge is from green candy... did she eat a thc sucker? that would make sense, but you would think that by the time the THC hit her, the green would be off the tounge...

Some people just cannot drive in general... mix anything mind altering, and forget about it...

...yes but here in lies the problem with this. MJ stays in your system for an average of 28 days.

There are tests that look for active THC rather than the metabolites. They can either do a blood test or it could work like it does in Australia. They have an oral swab that's designed to be positive if use occurred 5 hours or less previous to the test. A positive on their presumptive test finds the driver required to give blood samples.

california traffic is all fucked up... Where I live i see some BRAVE bicycalists... Out here in so cal, the bike lanes go with tarffic, and are very narrow.. where there is no bike lane, people still jog and bike, just near the edge.. up hills, around corners, they have no other choice but to risk their lives just to get a decent 20-mile bike or 3 mile run... 55mph speed limit, with 15 mph bikers only separated by a white line.. what is that white line gonna jump up and act like a wall when a car swerves only 1 foot out of the lane and kills some1.. I see it everyday, i am surprised this doesn't happen on a daily basis

Those people are idiots then for risking their lives just for a change of scenery while they bike/jog IMO.
I mean really, if it's that life and death, just run up and down the block in front of your house 50 times, boring yes, but no less effective of a workout then jogging on a road.
Getting hit by a car will really fuck up your workout.

Wonder if he really has a bike, or just an avid fan

And talking about hitting cyclists
picture.php

Who wouldn't hit that?

On a serious not I actually thought the article was pretty fair, it's not like the cop is saying the weed caused the accident, just that they have to charge the guy with it. I think there was enough info in the article for intelligent people see what's up but maybe I'm too biased.

When I was a kid, if you were walking/biking/jogging down the street and you heard/saw a car coming, you got the fuck out of the road fast.
It's been getting a little worse each year with the bikes.

Almost got in a fight about it last summer.
Driving home down a 35mph road and here's two bikes riding side by side down the middle of the lane like they think they are a car, doing about 10mph.
I follow for a while, they know I'm there and don't care, so I honk, guy whips his head around all indignant, I wave my hand towards the side of the road, he slowly gets partially over and I get along side him and he says what do you want me to do, all pissy, I said get out of the way of the cars that you're doing 1/3 of the speed of, fucker flips me off, I did a fake mini swipe at him with my jeep, he makes like he's going to kick my door, I slow down and say do it (yeah yeah, juvenile and petty I know) he's thinking about it, but is not sure if he can escape if he does or not, they end up turning down a side street and we say fuck you to each other and that's it.
Man I wanted to beat his ass and throw his bike off the railroad bridge so bad though.
The other biker moved and stayed out of it, only one was a dick.

Guys like that would have been run over when I was a kid, because everyone instantly moved for cars, and all cars just assumed you were going to move, and didn't slow down.

I'm all for green transportation, and I like biking, but don't be an ass about it, you're not a car, so GTFO when one comes.

Sounds like it was the dogs who were high, and getting all crazy in the car.
I have a story like yours but it ends up so drastic that i dare not post it even on this site. Let us say that a crime was committed that day. And that the spandex wearing bicyclist will keep in mind his weight class from now on.

same here! I've pretty much been high my whole 25+ years of driving. Never caused a wreak..never even got a speeding ticket!

Now....that said.....I will not ride my bike on the freeway if I am super high...I want and have used that extra 1/2 second reaction time.

I hear you!!! I live near the Pocono Mtns. in Pennsylvania. Biking is huge here as well. They are a danger to themselves and other drivers. I have almost gotten into a few head ons with another car coming around or over a pass. Lots of hills around here and you can't see who's coming around the bend until you are very close to each other, very little reaction time. Men should not be allowed to dress up in Alien helmets, wear tight spandex, while riding bicycles in large groups!!!

I know what you meen.

A long time ago in another life I was a truck driver and hauled house trailers.I came over top of one of those mountain tops with a heavy trailer.I had a guard rail to my right and busy traffic in the other lane.Well between me and the guard rail,on the side of the road i was going down, was an Amash on a horse drawn buggy.Their was "Barely" enough room. You should have seen him beating the shit out of that horse...lols.I think Jebadiah had to get home and wipe. :blowbubbles:

Upcoming GOV legislation = lots of bullshit mindcontrol tactics to try and sway the public ..
Green Tounge = The clue that this is bullshit..
VTA, you should keep adding the ones you find in here, they will increase as it gets closer.
As for the Walkers vs Drivers accidents thing,, Anyone playing in traffic is asking for trouble, parks, hills, fields or Roads??
Anyone hit by a car while running in the park, the driver was higher than weed, nar meaan.

i saw road kill this morning, it has ruined me, i am so sad., someones pet, gone cos of a speeding car, i drive but hate speeding, i am driving slower and slower everyday. I used to drive in a way that sickens me now, i was lucky i never harmed anyone and i pray i never do.
Hitting somone with a car is just the most fucked up thing, lets all slow down, baked drivers unite...

i kept having problems with asswipe that thought his bike was a car, for 2 summers this bozo kept riding in the road where there was an 8 foot wide blacktop emergency lane. i started having fantasies about crowding his lardass into the guardrail, LOL! luckily, a few weeks back, some old boy in a pickup truck beat me to it. i saw ambulances & blue lights on my way home and thought "hmmm, could it be true?" yup, assbite swerved out in front of truck (witnesses) as it passed him, CRUNCH! not dead, but won't be riding a bicycle for months, if ever. one of the most dangerous roads in this area, & HE thought it was HIS...:snap out of it:

A couple things...

A couple things...

Well, at first glance this seems to be either a misunderstanding (i.e. the dogs actually *did* cause the accident) or a fabrication due to Prop 19.

That said, I've been driving while high for a good 15 years now, never had an accident. It's all about the level of intoxication, as it is with alcohol. I admit it is unsafe to drive completely blazed, just as it's unsafe to drive totally drunk. Though, it is perfectly legal to drive after moderate consumption of alcohol (so long as you're below the limit), so it is that I believe it is A-OK to drive with a "rolling buzz" vs totally stoned. Since cannabis is for the most part illegal, we only have subjective driving limits, not objective such as it is with alcohol.

BUT EITHER WAY, as far as this biking stuff goes: I haven't ridden a bike in years, but I'd like to point out that it is usually legally mandated that bikers follow the rules of the road. In many, maybe even most, jurisdictions bikes are powered vehicles (albeit manpowered) and just as it's illegal to ride a motorcycle on the sidewalk it's the same for a bike. They must travel with traffic in a roadway lane, signal for turns, and stop at all stop signs and traffic signals (and wait until it's green again!). I'm not saying this makes sense or not, but please be aware that these people are not IDIOTS, they are simply following the law.

We are a car-centric nation and so many of us are unaware of these vehicle laws, but in other areas of the world the bike-vs-car thing is a no-brainer (like in Nederlands). They don't have schoolbuses, the kids have bikes. But to be fair, back here in the US bikers are often as unaware as the law as drivers are. Bikes and cars living together seemlessly simply isn't a part of our culture here.

Again, I'm not really taking a side on the man vs machine debate, but chances are these bikers are following the law. That said, I think we'd all agree that not all laws make sense!

Cheers,

gdiddy

It turns out the guy wasnt even high. he just smoked the day before, so this has now been officially proven, and excepted as PURE BULLSHIT. :) we all knew it too.

same here! I've pretty much been high my whole 25+ years of driving. Never caused a wreak..never even got a speeding ticket!

The one time I have been in a wreck I was sober. The funny thing is me and my friend decided we were hungry and we would wait to smoke and get some food first. I was impatient and in a hurry. If I woulda stopped to get high I woulda been mellow, and never got in that wreck.

also one time I was driving around with one of my friends baked as a cake, and we were laughing at someone we saw on the side of the road. (a little asain dude dressed as a giant butterfly). anyways we were laughing so hard that I could hardly breath, and laughter tears were rolling down my face. anyways, a truck ran a stop sign making a turn towards me and is in my lane. In a spit second in the middle of that silliness I was able to dodge him still. my point being, it doesnt really effect reflexes.

That's exactly how it is in my town. All riders of bicycles/bikes to ride in a bike lane as it is illegal to ride on the sidewalk and they must obey all traffic laws as if they are vehicles.
