I blame the movies "Breaking Away" and "Quicksilver"
Lol, I was going to say that every once in a great while you get a "quicksilver" guy that actually can keep up with side street traffic, beat it even sometimes, but then there's the 99.9% of the rest of the ass clowns that can't even come remotely close to doing it, but try anyway.I blame the movies "Breaking Away" and "Quicksilver"
...yes but here in lies the problem with this. MJ stays in your system for an average of 28 days.
Those people are idiots then for risking their lives just for a change of scenery while they bike/jog IMO.california traffic is all fucked up... Where I live i see some BRAVE bicycalists... Out here in so cal, the bike lanes go with tarffic, and are very narrow.. where there is no bike lane, people still jog and bike, just near the edge.. up hills, around corners, they have no other choice but to risk their lives just to get a decent 20-mile bike or 3 mile run... 55mph speed limit, with 15 mph bikers only separated by a white line.. what is that white line gonna jump up and act like a wall when a car swerves only 1 foot out of the lane and kills some1.. I see it everyday, i am surprised this doesn't happen on a daily basis
I have a story like yours but it ends up so drastic that i dare not post it even on this site. Let us say that a crime was committed that day. And that the spandex wearing bicyclist will keep in mind his weight class from now on.When I was a kid, if you were walking/biking/jogging down the street and you heard/saw a car coming, you got the fuck out of the road fast.
It's been getting a little worse each year with the bikes.
Almost got in a fight about it last summer.
Driving home down a 35mph road and here's two bikes riding side by side down the middle of the lane like they think they are a car, doing about 10mph.
I follow for a while, they know I'm there and don't care, so I honk, guy whips his head around all indignant, I wave my hand towards the side of the road, he slowly gets partially over and I get along side him and he says what do you want me to do, all pissy, I said get out of the way of the cars that you're doing 1/3 of the speed of, fucker flips me off, I did a fake mini swipe at him with my jeep, he makes like he's going to kick my door, I slow down and say do it (yeah yeah, juvenile and petty I know) he's thinking about it, but is not sure if he can escape if he does or not, they end up turning down a side street and we say fuck you to each other and that's it.
Man I wanted to beat his ass and throw his bike off the railroad bridge so bad though.
The other biker moved and stayed out of it, only one was a dick.
Guys like that would have been run over when I was a kid, because everyone instantly moved for cars, and all cars just assumed you were going to move, and didn't slow down.
I'm all for green transportation, and I like biking, but don't be an ass about it, you're not a car, so GTFO when one comes.
Sounds like it was the dogs who were high, and getting all crazy in the car.
Moral of the story is you wouldn't drink and drive why toke and drive...It's the same thing,If i burn i do not drive Period. Prayers to the family.
I havent driven "sober" in years... never caused a crash either.
some ppl just can't drive well, and ganja doesn't help
but it definitely doesnt hurt
I hear you!!! I live near the Pocono Mtns. in Pennsylvania. Biking is huge here as well. They are a danger to themselves and other drivers. I have almost gotten into a few head ons with another car coming around or over a pass. Lots of hills around here and you can't see who's coming around the bend until you are very close to each other, very little reaction time. Men should not be allowed to dress up in Alien helmets, wear tight spandex, while riding bicycles in large groups!!!
same here! I've pretty much been high my whole 25+ years of driving. Never caused a wreak..never even got a speeding ticket!
Now....that said.....I will not ride my bike on the freeway if I am super high...I want and have used that extra 1/2 second reaction time.

BUT EITHER WAY, as far as this biking stuff goes: I haven't ridden a bike in years, but I'd like to point out that it is usually legally mandated that bikers follow the rules of the road. In many, maybe even most, jurisdictions bikes are powered vehicles (albeit manpowered) and just as it's illegal to ride a motorcycle on the sidewalk it's the same for a bike. They must travel with traffic in a roadway lane, signal for turns, and stop at all stop signs and traffic signals (and wait until it's green again!). I'm not saying this makes sense or not, but please be aware that these people are not IDIOTS, they are simply following the law.
