Cab Setup update

Cab Setup update

Just got my Panny Whisper Ceiling unit, super light weight huge centrifugal bladed fan inside with 4" exhaust - 110cfm - good enuff for my 14cuft cab with all the resistance accounted for (i.e. carbon filter pellets and size of intake and exhaust holes - but I paid an arm and a leg for the "whisper" technology so we'll see how it goes... I am hoping that the air flow this thing creates will help vent the heat from my 250w hps open-air batwing setup in this tiny cab (which I somehow managed to vent with PC fans last two runs granted the forgiving weather/climate). If all goes well I should have these babies stretched out to 18-24" tall and chunky :) stay tuned :headbange

Fuck man that Chocolope really fucking took off there at the begging. About 10 billion times faster than any of my growth lol. Good genetics or what? damnnnn.

ROFL yea broo! I have no clue what it was but as soon as it was dropped in the organics and given foliars the thing went berzerk and literally tried to take over everything else - it HAS to be the genetics cause she is actually being purposely underfed and watered to keep her small but she REFUSES! she better produce buds at this rate too! ;) take cares thanks for chimin' in...

whats up brother-those girls are lookin FINE! as far as the blubonic goes, hopefully you got two females with both phenos i found earlier represented. one was twice the height of the other.
all the plants looking so healthy and vigorous-cant wait as this goes along.
just transplanted my htc sk ibl's they have been kinda sitting in the plugs for a while now, had to get em in some dirt, let them grow. will have pics tom. pm as bro is coming over-gotta another little surprise from the seeds!

anyways man, great job and lookin forward to more.....sub

subrob & brothaMonk without IC and all the opportune connections and knowledge that this site offers cannasseiurs, world wide, I wouldn't be as priveldged as I am now to grow out such a varied collection of rare strains, *hats off* arrigato...
that stonehedge sounds crazy - I googled around about Cambodian herbs and Jamaican Western Winds and they both sound like very cerebral experiences, and maybe even chemically "different" than our normal cannabis - I wonder why the taste isn't all there initially, must be the crazy intercontinental genetic mixup lol - the high sounds very appealing, I think I'll have to go on a cannafast before I partake in her harvest :)
Blubonic is soo sweet dude, it doesn't branch out axially much at all, I can tell she is gonna be one big chunky cola - just as I saw in your thread on her - by the way, NICE nice write-up on her, if I didn't mention it already!! I hope they will get as fat as yours being that they'll be in 1.5gal containers for flowering starting at 5-7" of height under 250w HPS <- this does the trick along with all the organic "shit"...
All of them are getting the Green Cure shower today so they don't carry any possible PM issues over into flowering (damn rain bringing humidity up again so gotta watch out) - looking okay otherwise, flowering begins memorial day. I plan on using the 18hr40min-day concept to be able to harvest all 9wk strains within 7wks... It's been done and proven to work just great by many on IC already. The loss of daylight hours will be compensated for by use of brand new EYE or SonAgro HPS bulb delivered at 70w/sqft dosage. Wish me luck ya'll!
Cheers, Dragor

Bigtimer7: Thanks for checkin' out my grow bro! Kaia is one I am really anxious to find out about too - can't believe I have a cut of it before Apothecary's seed debut - the man I am extremely thankful of for this is OGorganic (and his close ties with Brett). He hasn't even flowered the Kaia yet and already has spread the genetics to us patients, now that is the meaning of true, selfless, compassion - thanks OG if you happen to be reading this... further updates coming tonight

HPS setup swapped into cab tonight :headbange

All babies were isolated to complete darkness for the past 30hours - this is my experiment to see if it hastens flower onset or changes anything I normally see going straight into 12's.

They stretched almost an inch during this dark cycle and heights of plants are mostly 6-7" right now except the Menage's & OG, around 3-4", and the Chocolope, around 10". I have 3 feet of headspace for these babies and they are currently 18" away from the light for acclimation purposes.

Will be installing the Panasonic Whisper fan/scrubber tomorrow & transplanting to big pots once I "weed" out any males that pop up this week...

Stay tuned for the transformation folks! So many strains this time and so much sativa influence - you could call me a kid at Disneyland ;) PeaceUp

...update 5/26/08...

The new fan setup had me take a big huge sigh of relief today, this is some sweet ass technology (leave it up to Panny engineers to always come up with the most user friendly gear) - it sounds like gushing wind inside the top compartment of the cab without the carbon loaded - and barely audible with it in. The 110cfm is so strong the gushing exhaust air behind the cab is somewhat audible so I'll pick up one of those plastic/aluminum 4" angled exhaust/chimney setups for a few bucks at Home dePot.

Serious Credit goes out to Bulenath for his original post a year and a half ago here: http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=45196 to help me finally get the CannaCabina under full control... :D pics of setup coming soon

Precalyxes readily observable on all clones' main nodes already and the seedlings acclimated very quickly to HID transition today. I am not sure what this means - but two of the SKIBL x Stonehedge seedlings did something crazy upon "seeing the light" - the fan blades all perked up to nearly vertical and parallel to the main stem! I think they might have been starving for light after 30 hours of darkness or they did so on purpose to "unshade" the bottom and inner baby branches? Only these two perked up like that - I swear these HTC genetics are something else! -dragor-

Checking in Dragor...tried to give you rep but my post count is below 50...in due time though.

I skimmed through the thread, but I didn't catch the veg light cycle?

Anyhow, seems like some nice genetics you got going...again good luck! Anymore pictures?

DND: wAsup my friend of inquiring mind :) I really liked that you posted that question on short day/night cycles - thanks for the k+ thoughts too I know the rules are weird on this site sometimes ;) for veg, I went 3 weeks on all of them (except Kaia, 2 weeks) - under 96watts of T5 twentyfour seven. The transition is what was the most unique thing I have pulled so far - details below...
BM: Merci brotha! To get things a big exciting... I saw the spikey point on the preflower and seemed way too sharp to be male - this was on the more slender/tall/darkgreen/non-StoneH(?) pheno - :D

So an initial experiment turned out to be longer in duration than planned due to various reasons - I planned to give them all a very long dark cycle to begin flowering phase from twentyfour seven (some stress risk involved), but then I ended up dealing with untimely cab redesign issues, for an aditional three days. So... here is what the light schedule was like for the start of flowering:

saturday: 4:30pm (darkness-30hr)
sunday: 10:30pm (HPS-20hr)
monday: 6:30pm (darkness-28:30hr)
tuesday: 11:00am (HPS-16:30hr)
wednesday: 3:30am (darkness-12hr)
wednesday: 3:30pm (HPS-6:30hr)
wednesday: 10:00pm (darkness-12hr)
thursday: 10:00am (HPS-6hr)
thursday: 4:00pm (darkness-12hr)
friday: 4:00am (HPS-6:40hr)
friday: 10:40am(darkness)
friday: 10:40pm (HPS-6:40hr)
etc..

so far no extra stretching or anything weird has happened, and they are definitely looking like they are flowering with some seedsters showing preflower development - the extra night hours and gradual transition from 24hrs light should help speed up flower formation (for sure it did on the clones, precalyxes showing at i-nodes and thc pebbles developing on the leaf base/stems) - but it's only been five days of flowering so another few days 'til final sexing, then transplant..

current heights of the different strains:
HTCs - 7.25", 9", 9" (2-2.5" stretch)
SOLs - 8" & 9.25" (2.5-2.75" stretch)
MODs - 6" & 6.5" (2.5" stretch)
OGB - 5" (2" stretch)
D-line - 11" (1" stretch,H2Olack)
J-One - 8" (2" stretch)
Kaia - 9.25" (1.75" stretch)
..not bad about half an inch a day stretch with that much darkness hours I'm pretty impressed I'd say (with my lack of experience accounted for)..

pic of the carbon scrubber frame I had to build for mounting to the panasonic exhaust fan:
CarbonScrubberFrame.jpg

here's the garden under HPS following initial 30hr night:
GardenFloweringDay1.jpg

finally, the CannaCabina with reworked ventilation system :)
RedesignedCannaCabina.jpg

cab temps have been RT+/-3deg, about 77degF on average - and this whacky 6:40/12 light cycle is good for another reason (besides being less costly and suspicious) it has the light come on during the cooler times of the day so far :D

will have updated pics every evening (hopefully) so I can document how well this idea of shortened day hours will speed things up - godspeed to all...

I swear that is my old Mills Pride C-13 grow cab that I finished my first grow in... I loved that thing.

Won't be long till I try this myself my friend, I can't wait till we see your results. Thanks again for thinking outside the box and actually trying something different even though we have a tried and true method. It's people like you that make a difference in our means to medicate ourselves and live FREE! :headbange

DND: Your thoughtful words are much appreciated my friend - it's a great enjoyment to cultivate this special herb and experiment as much as I can with it every time, never stop learning, and passing on ideas to others...
Hope we will see some good stuff from this bud scheduling!
So far, I can see new plant matter behind all the stipules but cannot make out definite form yet, lights just came on so I'll give a better update with microscope look. The HPS bulb I bought was defective so I'll be putting the new (much brighter) HPS in mid next week (so for now the plants will be moved very close to the current bulb).
bleezie: Nice to hear from ya on here... I remember you told me you picked up the Kaia too, heck yea man this is gonna be some serious new cannabreed! She is stretching quite a bit right now and branching out beautifully - you are still vegging yours out I see - best wishes, give her a lot of time to veg, I didn't let her get big enough, all good tho...

Looking good brother......I'll be tuning in from time to time to check you out...

Also I dont know if I ever responded to your pm but that thread was definitley not her...

When are gonna give the ghani and the gfh a run ???

sophisto: Nice of you to check in my good man... I have the Ghani and GFH in the caring hands of my bro right now, I'll run her in the near future tho once I get the current ladies finished.

Update on sex of seedsters:
HTC - one male, one female*, one unknown
SOL - one male, one female*
MOD - both males
OGBubba - unknown

Death Row :
DeathRowFloweringDay10.jpg

HTC male :
HTCFloweringDay10maletop.jpg

SOL male :
SOLFloweringDay10maletop.jpg

MOD males :
MODFloweringDay10maletops.jpg

OGB weakling :
OGBFloweringDay10top.jpg

Five keepers sofar (including D-Line, Kaia & J1 clones) - don't have much hope for the OGBubba baby (really undernourished and slow feeding, weak stem), and if I get a second HTC SKIBL StoneH female, I will decide whether to keep or regift to the rightful owner of the sown seed - transplantation tonight, alas!

I need to post some new pics cause these things are maturing and growing at the speed of light, only nine days of flowering too - so far, I would say the 6:40/12 technique does increase rate of maturation, hopefully they don't overstretch with this light schedule - tho I have definitely planned to train J1 and Kaia during flowering to increase yields. Stay tuned for those pics later tonight, have a great day ya'll! :rasta:

Update: Flowering Day 11

Update: Flowering Day 11

subRob shahbrah what's been up brotha? Da-Damn, Blubonic is a tall girlie and definitely one of 'dem strong single cola types (gots the taller sativa pheno I think, whatdya say bro?) - I don't think I can take a cut from her, she doesn't have any sideshoots big enough and is already eleven days into flowering, that's the lame thing about my short veg and quick flowering method =/ man o man though, this J1 is definitely getting pretty girthy and starting to extend those super long fan fingers and building up the inner branches with tiny pistils everywhere, I can't wait til she's done stretching and starts getting "gorge"ous LOL - dude tell me more about the J1 samples from your bro, she's sounding super stellar! My buddy's J1 is very strong and a healthy size now too - J-love everywhere, thanks! Brotha M's beans ended up being female by majority, and I am sure that both fems are gonna be some prime time genetics - they already smell the strongest so far that's for sure...

So the updated pics I been promising are finally here, taken today, flowering day 11; I will try to post pics every other day (every day is an impossibility haha); they were just transplanted last night into the 1.5gal pots and perked up nicely by midway through the current light cycle - pistils delicately emerging from all six tops, with some tops starting to shine already! Enjoy...

VVN... thanks for the plant porn, lol. Saving some pollen from the males to make some seeds? You could make some crazy crosses or F2's just in case.

DND: Glad you enjoyed those closeups 'n all :p I'm actually not saving any males or pollen as my circumstances prevent anything more than this single chamber cab (can't do clones or males or veg plants, while I am working on flowering ones, a very small and personal/experimental setup) - sweet idea it would be tho, get some J-Blu or Kaibonic going lol - not sure if I would have used the MOD pollen anyways, too much genetic variation in that cross and the F2 (?) would be very randomized (imho). All males were chopped up and the leaves recycled through the biocycle.

Everything is comin along nicely, albeit a bit slowly (but I am always impatient during the first 2 weeks of flowering when all the hormones are just starting to get going in the ladies and the transplant soil usually helps kickstart the flowering nicely too, usually after the second week. I hope we'll see some accelerated growth next week and beyond... Giving them only 6 hours 40min of light feels like its not enough but I am gonna stick with it til they are done at 55 days :)
