Down To Earth Crab Meal Smell

I just picked up some Down To Earth brand Crab Meal.

I was planning on adding crab meal and neem seed meal to my next soil mixture to hopefully add some deterrence in case any bugs find my place.

When I opened up the box I was punched in the face by a terrible smell. This crab meal REAKS!

Has anyone used this before? Does the smell get worse when you add it to moist soil? Does it eventually go away?

Don't get me wrong, bone meal and blood meal and kelp meal don't smell great, but they smell like lavender and roses compared to the Crab Meal.

never tried crab meal but i use feather meal which is pretty horrible

when i cook up my soil it smells badly, probably a cumulative effort from a lot of the ingredients but it definitely puts off some noxious fumes. after a few weeks it clears up

I use the DTE crab, it does smell, but as others stated gets better with time.

whenever i use sea creature derived fertilizers inside it always makes me feel like my C filter is to hide the smell of death instead of dank

I use it, it goes away pretty quick unless you use too much. I put a handfull in 5gal. smartpot with a whole bunch of other stuff and the smell was not bad. Plants love it.

do you supplement with any liquid nutes or tea or zyme products?
