hey mitch, funny I found this thread, because today I forgot I had two 1gal ziploc bags filled with trim from my last grow....BUT that was 4mo ago...is it still usable?? (in deep freezer since harvest) love da hashi!! but like everyone else, bubblebags are too expensive...read about this method a while back..."the gumby" def. a must! for all growers to try!!!

Hey guys, Just done a hash run using the same method as in the original post.
I think the only changes I made were to allow the hash water, when ice/trim had been removed, to settle for around 4 hours. I don't think I was quite as patient last time.
I also did a second mix using the same trim and I got just as much product from it. If there is any difference in quality I will see.
I used approx 300g of wet frozen trim - all sugar leaves/ small fans which had crystals on. I also manicure my buds quite meticulously.
I formed the hash into a shape and left on cardboard for the water to come out, I kept turning it over and moving it about, then i left it on the cardboard which I placed on top of a ballast.
I just weighed it @ 5.4 grams, I will weigh again tomorrow to see if it loses any more weight. I also have another block from the second mix which is a similar size.

Hey bogey, Yeh the first attempt I literally had zero cash for bags, This time round I just didn't get round to ordering them, but I've seen a 5 bag set for like £40 so probably a good investment.
I'm going to do a smoke report on the plants I made the hash from and tie hash report into that thread also. But I'll drop a link in here if anyone is interested.
I have the second mix hash drying now, so I'll get some photos of that up in here later today or tomorrow.

no offense but this looks like baby vomit. you should really just make iso hash or bho.. its way easier and wont have so many impurities like i see every run of hash you had.
dont do bho diy unless you really know how to make an extractor i see hundreds of people use pvc when they have no real clue how butane reacts with certain materials, unless you want pvc in your oil i dont suggest using materials you dont know will react well if used with butane. one material thats safe is copper or you can buy a $25 dollar honeybee extractor which id highly recommend because you know its safe to use.
it also should be noted by many that you cant just use any butane, most butane contain extra chemicals or scents that you do not want. colibri butane is the best, found in most cigar or tobacco shops. nothing added that shouldnt be there and no extra added scents.
im only telling you this because i know for a fact you can make better hash with way less effort and at a really cheap cost. to me this still seems like a waste of trim to make hash thats so impure. im really not trying to be mean, im just saying.

I'm not any sort of extract expert I'm just doing it for fun, sorry to any purists but be it in edibles or ice hash as long as it gets me cained I don't really mind.
Definetly does have some impurities, will see if bags do a better job of filtering out any trim next time around.

Apologies if I'm causing offense to anybody with my method or images!
But this is only the second time I've made hash period, and the emphasis is on it being a cheap/free way of doing it. This run cost me £2 for the ice, that was it, and I still have half of it left.
I'd love genuine bubble bags but they are £100+ for a 4 bag set, and only having a small tub of trim every few months, I can't really justify paying that at the moment.
And even if it is contaminated, then I know what by, and will be substantially nicer/cleaner/safer than any soapbar I could land on the street.
Anyways to those interested, the hash from the second mix is dry. It weighs 4.6g.
It is lighter in colour than the product from the first mix, more sandy. Also it is harder, the first block is fairly soft and pliable.

Hello Mr.Connor. New to the site but a regular on AFN. One of the members has a great/cheap extraction method using ISO. However, you need to use the highest % ISO you can find (90%-99% is ideal). Here's a quick breakdown of the process.
Place ISO in freezer for at least 4 hours (overnight is better).
Place trimmings in mason jar.
Pour cold ISO over kiefe/trimmings until fully covered.
Shake vigorously for no more than 5 minutes.
Place filter over end of jar and strain ISO into CLEAN glass baking dish.
Place baking dish under fan and allow ISO to evaporate.It took a couple of days for mine to totally evaporate.
Once ISO has evaporated scrape resin from outside edges to the center.
Ball/roll it up and test it out.
My wife LOVED it. Didn't have a lot of kiefe/trimmings but managed to get 2g of kick ass ISO hash.

Lol, 5 minutes in ISO is way too long, that will extract all the waxes and other nasty shit you don't want
