I use this method to sex my new seed plants. I take a cutting off of a plant of unknown sex, place it in a neoprene collar and float it in a glass of water in the flowering room. I usually get about 50% to root this way as well.

Mr. M

do you get to tell which sex it is ezly? and within what time usually?

my clones not big enough for floating on an insert
I hope it roots, I plan to do a "what do you think it's gonna yield" thread for the fuck of it

Ahhh... Now I see!

That truly is a "micro" clone. I wonder what will become of her?

Let's wait and see!

do you get to tell which sex it is early? and within what time usually?

Yes, I use this method to tell the sex of my seedlings early. It's especially good for those varieties that don't like to show sex in veg, (or are slow to do so.)

As soon as the seedling is big enough to be "topped" that clone can be placed in the flowering room. It takes anywhere from a few days to a week or two to show sex, (depending on the strain.)

This allows me to find males that are very stable (ones that never "pre-flower" in veg.) Or if I'm looking to kill all males (or females) I know sex earlier and don't have to waste my time/money/space/energy on plants of the undesired sex.

Hope that helped,

Mr. M

FWIW Im 95% sure that the picture i posted was also the plant that is in my LST pictorial timelapse thread (Here and in my sig).

Im not sure if this thread is just about dicking around, or an actual question. The pictorial demonstrates its possible to go to full term.

pretty snazzy shroomy, I'm more just dicking around than anything else. I know it's gotta be possible and all and that it's not breaking any new ground just something to pass the time. see what happens with zero veg and soo tiny.

So no bubbles? Are you changing the water (tap?) every day? I didnt think MJ would root w/o the bubbles.

just leave it there mate. It does not need too much oxygen to root. The roots need the oxygen themselves though.

haha funny!

A seedling popped for me and needed to break through so as I took it out of the shell, it's root fell off.

I took the sprout and put it in the ground, 4 days later it has a root growing off the stem part. None of the original root was there. Less than half an inch and with no root.

It's goin now. Totally castrated and removed it's roots then grew some on just a sprout.

I change the water every couple days, it would root faster with bubbles. but you can fer sure root this way, without bubbles I mean. now whether this little girl will root, who knows.

8 out of 10 of my Himalaya gold clones are showing roots after maybe 8-9 days. I repeat: Himalaya gold is my hardest cloning keeper. All the clones are extremely green and healthy. This method works and it's SIMPLE as hell. I will take some pics soon

I've done that twice, both resulted in : one hermi and one male. Could the stress of loosing its' tap root stress it enough for it to be pushed to non female?

I'll try the root in water deal, I've had them in water for over a week and didnt notice any root nubs. I know, be patient.
