Epsoma garden lime is dolomite what now. how do I grow with this how much per gallon of soil and can I skip the Epsom salts? I hate to mess with my medicine but almost everyone says use dolomite. This is pelletized 21% ca, 10% MG, 29% calcium oxide, 17%mag oxide, the bag says finest dolomitic limestone available. What now?

IMO take that pellet and put it thru a grinder, make it powder, works quicker.

I use around 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons per gal of soil, and it's used to stablize the ph fluctuation in the soil.

My understanding... Dolomite should be added at approx 1 - 2tbsp/Gal of soil. Many commercial soils will have some lime or other buffering added, so may be able to go with lighter applications.

With dolomite, Epsom salts should not be necessary to use in maintenance feedings. Keep it handy in case of unforseen problems, but you can put it on the back of the shelf.

As far as I know several factors can influence how much lime is needed, but the 1 - 2tbsp/gal formula seems to cover most of it. If you have very 'hard' water, there may be some issues, though I'm not sure how likely.

I'm using the exact same product myself, some people reccomend crushing/grinding the pellets into powder, but I don't see it as being necessary. Make sure to give the lime a week or two to settle in to the soil before using it, as with most things.

Epsom salts provides Mg & S, but no Ca. Lime provides Ca & Mg, but no S. MJ requires all 3.

I use 1-2TBL/gal dolomite in the soil and add 1/4-1/2 tps Epsom per gal/water every 3 or 4 waterings. I've read that some experienced growers use Epsom (1/4 tsp/gal water)to foliar feed once in mid to late veg and once in mid-flower, as a preventive measure. OR....

If you need K in your soil, you could use dolomite and sul-po-mag (K-Mag is organic approved) in your soil and forget the Epsom salt entirely.

I don't grind my dolomite, but it couldn't hurt, IMO.
