i think its impossible to OD on cannabis no matter how it was ingested, might feel like oding but more likely VERY VERY VERY HIGH

chocolate especially dark chocolate is deadly to canine's, did these cookies have chocolate in them if so, this is why your dog is sick.

I have had my dog eat some buds in the past, she had no ill effects whatsoever other than sleeping lol.

I just finished watching "The Union" the other day. Wow if a little monkey can take a daily regime of 60 joints worth of Cannabis in a matter of 5 minutes, Im sure a dog can take a 10 cookies not problem. Haven't heard anyone put 6 grams of cannabis to a cookie! Hope the dog is alright. Ya having a sick animal and not knowing what exactly is wrong really really sucks. But if it went from not holding its head up to being able to I think that is a good sign!

Ooohhhh. I've got a few rascally muts myself.

now, I ain't sayin' she's a gold digger, but 1 of my bitches got into a couple grams of Budder, that somehow found its way on the floor. The Dog went for a little stroll one afternoon, and collapsed at about 10 wobbly paces.couldn't walk for 2 days. Day 3 she strted coming around. No worse off since.

Put that stuff in a safer place next time;)
oh and a word to the wise, don't count on the hydrogen peroxide. we tried in this case, and the dog stomched a half bottle and nothing.

Peroxide would be my second choice. My first would be syrup of ipecac. Safe on k9s. Most drug stores carry it. Ive used it more than once on my goldens...

Cheers!

Sounds like a scientific study I could be *up* for ...

There is no known LD-50 for cannabis. If they estimate the lethal dosage for humans @ 1500 lbs, I'd say it's fairly impossible for a dog to die from that.

Sounds like a scientific study I could be *up* for ... what, there is no study, and no call for volunteers? Damn, I was looking for a very special place in the "Guinness Book of World Records". :tiphat:

Very recently, a large plastic container of cookies that was found in a car that was being sold and so cleaned out, was turned out and thrown in the garbage. Dog came along and ate probably 10 of them. No idea of the strength. Went to vet emergency...... Major Toxic Overdose said the vet.
Dog could not walk - been on a drip for two days.
( Drip !! not Trip !! )

The only cannabis overdose I have had in 50 years where I was really sick, was from eating brownies. Dosage is unpredictable. Too much? Oh, Oh,.... too late !! .... and there's more gonna hit you for a while after you have had more than enough.

Respect

I believe the Dog was very high ... but the part about almost dying I would have to see some proof of. Ive seen ppl spout this same thing about cannabis over doses ... but ive never seen proof of the toxicity of it that it could actually kill you ... Would love to see some proof of that one ? Its easy to say it

Well I hear you all - maybe the dog wasn't 'dying' - didn't intend to bad mouth our cannabis. I reckon it was a double whammy of the chocalate and the herbs. He was flat on the ground for hours and probably if it was me I would have left him to just chill for the night
but it was decided to take him to vet emergency which cost a huge amount of money. Not sure about the peroxide if there is a next time - ipecac or strong mustard and water from what I've seen on the net.
A N Y W A Y.... Dog is looking good - still a bit shaky but will be fine.

Thanks to all !

Yeah a child could have eat them! Definitely a case of irresponsible dog ownership and cake baking !

Sorry dude but as a 13yr old I watched our dig die from strychnine poisoning, he got it (along with a few other dogs) from a garbage bag that had meatballs of beef and strychnine. the people had grown tired of dogs ripping his garbage apart. he was never charged, he always had flat tires (til I got caught) he never harvested a garden of veges again, not as long as I lived in that pisshole and at hallowe'en his outhouse always fell over.
My dog was taught at a very early age that garbage CANNOT be touched. And I will never understand how anyone would allow their dog to "pick" out of a garbage can or anyplace other then its dish or your hand.
