Does prozac make cannabis less effective??

That is basically my question.

I have been on prozac for 20 years and feel no matter how much or how little I take, it seems to do nothing for depression. I am weaning off of it now to see if stopping or taking a break from it may help. At max dose of 80mg, I get bad, constant headaches.

I would seek the advice of a physician/
Psychiatrist
Self treating depression is doable but dangerous

Have been seeing doctors for 20 years, and that is the best they can come up with, and seems to do nothing.

Anti-depressants DO NOT relieve depression. At least, not in anyone I have ever known. Everyone I know who takes anti-depressants is still depressed. LOL

But they generate an incredible revenue for the doctors.

If you need someone to talk to, see a psychologist, not a psychiatrist. A psychologist can not write a prescription so he has nothing to gain be getting you addicted. And, most of them are pretty nice guys. Most psychiatrists are arrogant cocksuckers.

Good luck. I embrace my depression and dance with her. Sometimes she steps on my toes but, it beats thinking it's going to stop when it isn't.

I am going to try CBD. The GG4 I have been using for years has none in it. Also a couple of things I do not think I am allowed to talk about here (native american remedies) which say they should not be taken with antidepressants due to serotonin problems.

One thing I had mentioned to my doctor is, that my life does not suck because of my depression, I am depressed because my life sucks.

Im in the frame of mind that the cause of depression dictates whether medications can help. Brain chemical disorder/unexplainable depression probably can be helped. I dont think depression stemming from environment/bad situations can be helped other than by distancing yourself from or overcoming the cause.

Im in the same position Loc Dog, seems all we can do is bite our lip and deal with it imho.

I believe that's exactly right...

Exactly. When you win the lottery and you're depressed, that's clinical, when you lose your job and can't get another, that's situational. Clinical needs treatment, situational needs mates etc. Sadly doctors make no distinction and hand out pills for both.
S.S.R.I.s are no good with weed. They block serotonin receptors, with a view of tricking the bodies homeostasis mechanisms to produce more so that reducing the medication results in you receiving more serotonin naturally.
The same mechanisms mean some long term smokers naturally start to produce less serotonin. Taking a break has the same effects as taking S.S.R.I.s. unfortunately, in the short term this makes people feel worse, hence dire warnings in the side effects sheet. But there are no reasons to take this type of anti depressant long term.
There are other types of medication, but the SSRIs are by far the cheapest, and so the most commonly prescribed. But the benefits they offer, only kick in after they have been stopped.

I am almost off it, and feel better. I think St. Johns wort used to help more, before I started prozac. Originally took it for anxiety attacks from stress. Might try caapi, but think that makes you vomit. That is MAOI.

They are very mild, but you might consider beta blockers for panic attacks.

What got rid of my anxiety attacks, was money. Not enough to retire on, but enough to not have to worry about living on streets for at least a few years. Thinking about going to Thailand, where rent for a nice condo for 6 years, is less than one years property tax in NJ.

i never noticed a difference with i tried prozac for a short time but i do notice a significant difference in my ability to get stoned when i took wellbutrin. its a dopamine inhibitor and i'm guessing that's why i couldn't get very stoned. it would take a couple days to get out of my system and then i was super stoned.

i'm going to try some native remedies here shortly. i have quit taking my medication in january because after a while it doesn't do anything besides make me tired and stupid. i didn't tell anyone i was going to stop taking them and see if people noticed a difference. nobody had any bad complaints except one time for a week i was pretty upset over something but i think that's pretty good for eight months off medication. what people did say is that i am more present during conversations, i have better memory and ironically, i am happier now.
