Does pollination prevent herms?

i'm pretty shure i read that pollination of one bud per plant prevents female plants to become hermaphrodites. yet i am not sure of this.

is it true; and if, is there any sientific material out there? :)

thx alot

No, not a hermie. Stress creates hermies along with genetic tendencies if any. Pollination could however result in no 'last-minute' nannas, this does not mean the plant is a hermie, these are just a last effort to keep the line going...often times though it usually takes more than enough flowering time to produce these last effort nannas, however I really don't know if pollination would keep that from happening, or if there is any significance between the two...but it would make sense.

That info comes from Canabis Botany....

according to clarke....

"Early fertilization might also help fix the sex of a pistillate plant, helping to prevent hermaphroditism."

and plants with both sexes on them are hermaphrodites.....

there is no allowance for late nanners.... not in biology anyway....

In this case clarke is probably talking about pollinating the preflowers....

I like your way of thinking however...

Perhaps a light pollination of the lower buds will fix sex in a hermi prone strain and any male flowers that form late will be sterile???

i had a orange diesel that hermied at day 60 ,it was sterile, but same time a few lower buds were pollenated

who knows ?

if you pollinate a bud on the plant, will the whole plant be pollinated or just that one bud?

Just the bud you pollinate so long as you keep the pollen contained.
I collect pollen in a ziplock bag, place it over the bud to be pollinated, zip it tight, shake, let sit for about 30 min, remove carefully so as not to have pollen blowing around, mist the bud with water to keep pollen from blowing around and spreading to other buds, tag with date so i know i've let it go at least 4 weeks so seeds mature. Being careful i still find a seed or 2 in surrounding buds sometimes.
