Does heat inhibit flowering?

I have seven plants in the flowering room (others have died from the heat, but these linger on with the new homemade ac) that have been in there for 4 weeks, and no sign of flowering. They are clones, not male, growing in soil. I am assuming the heat is keeping them from flowering. Right?

Thanks

well since it was hot enough to kill them I can't say. thats pretty damn hot.

but normally the answer is no. heat just makes buds more airy and some plants don't like it. usually indicas. but there is great weed grown in places that are over a hundred degrees practically year round.

dear hieagle i am running my homemade portable ac at the rate of 30 on every 90 minutes....it is a 5000 btu critter.......it has produced some relief.....should i move the plants further away from the lights? they are already moved to a min 6 feet away.....plus the distance to the floor.

I think I'd run that AC more like 58 minutes every 60...plants that far from the bulb aren't getting squat for lighting...I don't think I'd even veg under that little light honestly. I understand you're just trying to keep em cool but you've got to fix the problem, not the symptom.

What are the temps and RH like in there?

I'm was wondering the same question man... I am aboutt to start flowering and temps are reaching 85F... with ac running constantly...

some strains mite react to heat with flowering as a genetic thing. all strains are diffrent. cheese waffles for life!

Well I'm not sure what strain i have but its been flowering in 85-104 degrees... recently taken down to about 88 constanly.. and its flourishing quite well.. but I have noticed the buds closest to the top the hair recede if the heat is to hot.

every strain can handle its own amount of heat, indicas are prone to heat issues while satiavs can handle upwards of 100 sometimes, mostly pure or at lease 75% or more sativa in them

heat does ineed slow flowering down, and like sandman has stated is true as well.
to keep it safe you want temps of around 80 F MAX! if you want to try to induce color later into flowering, but also slows yield, something around 65 F dont go under 70 F for good temps and yield, some strains auto color though no matter what temps

but some need colder temps to induced there colors which are mostly micronutes and phosphprus issues is how you get the colors

Yes High temps can retard flowering, and even prevent it... I recently saw a grow where temps were running near 100 day and night... After 65 days of flowering, his sativas had small airy low potentcy bud, and his indicas had no buds or crystals at all... I gave him the clones, and know what the plants can do, and was very suprised at the dramatic effect the temp had.

Hello,

Sorry to hear your plants died. I used to suffer from heat problems as well. One thing I did was to put a lot of basic oscilating room fans around making sure each plant is getting some wind. Also maybe adding a more powerful fan to air cool your lamp would reduce temperatures. Mites can also be a concern, since a female can lay something like 10 thousand eggs at 80 degrees and 100 thousand at 90 degrees, populations can rise to dangerous levels very rapidly. Other than air circulation as an inexpensive fix, I ended up buying 2, 12,000 btu/hr stand alone room AC's that seemed to do the trick.

I hope this is helpful.
Peace
