does costa rica have good weed?

i spent a good amount of time in central america and yes costa does have some REALLY good pot. Most of the shwag is called cayetta (spelling?) but we nicknamed it mierdes de los elephantes, or elephant shit cause that's what it looks like. a big brown mound of dino dookie or something. i found some good stuff in jaco, had a friend who knew a friend sort of deal. Best bet is to go to one of the gringo owned resturants or bars and ask the bartender or waiter if they know where the crippy is at. leave them a good enough tip and maybe they help you out

as far as surfing, jaco is crap..shit for waves and crackheads/dirty prosititutes running rampant. also so much theivery going on these days down there it's rediculous. sadly befriending a local is a dangerous endeavor as they might end up ripping you off in the end. mal pais/santa teresa was a cool little surfer town with less nastiness as jaco/tamarindo.

it's available, just super hard to find. none of the local kids peddlin pot and coke want to be bothered for crippies, they only deal with shwag, so you have to find their "boss" the old dreaded guy, for the life of me can't remember his name... but the surf is fun, lots of cute foreign girls running around. not crowded at all.

Conversation: Me: Hay mucha mota aqui? Him: Quieres? Me: Tienes? Him: Wait here.

10 min later (I watched his stand, though I doubt I was the only one) he comes back with 1 inch hard packed cubes for $20. Very hard, went a long way for it's size, decent weed (especially when you're not sure you'll have any).

Seemed like the same sing and dance that happens millions of times in cannabis culture.

Because based on my extensive experience, people don't even drink decent coffee in Costa...

Most weed samples ARE kiefed mids, sub par brick weed and lots of peddlers with attitude!

Costa Rica is going down the drain real fast!

Over priced, rude service, shitty weed, too many crack heads and the people and government don't seem to give two shits.

Most rivers in the central valley are just open sewage!

And the country brags of being nature friendly?

Buses and old trucks contaminate with impunity and roads and streets are SELDOM marked even in the capital.

The same with weed!

Do what I did and bring 1/2 O taped on you!

If plan to live in Costa...

Grow your own and don't trust locals.

Deal only with expats... Locals may come as friendly but tend to be double faced and envious.

No REAL mature cannabis culture at all.

Stay safe!

In tamarindo, montezuma etc ( pacific coast) is full of americans.... so the dealers have the price for that costumers....
In the caribean near panama more european and different people ... i found a sativa with out seeds... grow by an indians that lived around
I smoked too indoor weed, grow it by an amrerican living there.... and nice hash oil..... thats for free ..... maybe is good to speak castellano ... that helpsss
Coke is fucking cheap .... and really good... but thats other story... not friend for a coke holidaysss...
Other wise costa rica is one of the most wonderfull places that ive ever been,,,, nice volcans, nice beachs, jungle,,, sierrass.... friendly people and safe..... no army in this country.... thasss sooooo niiiiceeee

Many foreigners come to Costa just for the Coke! Specially from Italy, Spain and England.

Some of them end up as Beach crack head ex-pats once the money runs off... I lived in Montezuma for a while and know it first hand.

Coke tourism I call it... I HATE Coke!

Lost many friends to it.

Ya.. tons of crack head dirty hippies with 6 dogs living in tents in Montezuma and Mal Pais.. The beaches are nice but I got the hell out of Costa Rica and went north.. I think Nicaragua is a lot more real and so much cheaper.. the lack of crack heads is a plus too. I decided not to smoke on my trip but lot's of people were offering me weed .. saw some nice indoor and outdoor 15 bucks a gram.. saw some brick 20 bucks an ounce.

OI...! I vetoed The Southern Nicoya Pen because of that... To go from rural Norcal to be with the same sort of outlaw/loser type...? Also, the cheap backpacker surfer slum campout places g'tee the water will be full of grouchy N. Amer. CA surfers (who then call themselves "Locals" in CR) with no pot to piss in... Usually - these people are problems in the water... 'Cause that is all they got. A dinged shortboard, and a dog that follows them around for scraps...

COKE...? I have NO desire to even be anywhere around people who do it... VERY Bad Energy, for sure...

Not to mention the potential for thievery, from locals and these castaways, in this situation. Having to keep a vigilant eye once in a while, on your belongings is expected, but not 24 / 7....

Since I am travelling alone, I have to consider what is also safest from a perspective of keeping my belongings...

It is a delicate decision, as the summer only provides waves worth riding in the Southern Hemisphere.

I think I will just go to Hawaii. Very Comfortable there - have spent lots of time there.. Years, in fact... A bit boring compared to CR, but I WILL get surf... Pack a Medical Maxi-Pad of my Purple Erkle, GDP, mr. Nice, and Cheese.... I just don't think that schwag will do it for me.....!

Guatemala sounds alot like the experience I had on my first surf trip to Costa Rica. We stopped in Montezuma a small town full of ex-patriot gringos and a few head shops, we scored some terrible shit that was like nothing but leafy material, no buds, total shit like were saying about some of you're scores. Then we made our way to Mal Pais a small village on the coast that caters to surfers and eco travel types, ran into some real live Jamaican rastas who hung out by the beach, Lord knows they had the killa shit, WOW. Good times. **Note:this was years ago and I'm sure things have changed dramatically in Costa Rica since** Mal Pais has good surf but it is a gentle sort of beach break, even with size. If you want some seriously heavy beach break ie: barrels that will snap boards and grind you up, go to Hermosa about 15 or 20 mins south of Jaco.
