Does cannabis make you more anti-social (more of a hermit)

I too have some of these traits but have concluded that because I'm in a not legal, in any way state and am paranoid about who I talk to, not only when I'm stoned but most times. Typically, I talk more when I'm buzzed but have a hard time keeping my 'hobby' quiet, so not talking works for me. my 2cents.

I'm in the same boat as you Snook. It was a lot easier back in the seventies to be a pothead in an illegal place . Still, back then I was socially shy when high and now its the exact same.
Only difference is I can choose my weed and I know what I prefer so its not as akward .

borderline agoraphobic, despise the tra-la-la of most mentalities.
besides, culture has adulterated reality to the point of my medicine being illegal.

imagine a cure being illegal....

tune in, turn on, drop out pretty much covers it.

What you mean? Like blazing a fatty and going into a store....don't look at me don't look at me shit they saw me ....everyone knows I'm high feeling? Lol

Some strains have more of an introvert effect and some result in jabber mouth. Also 15 bong hits usually makes me anti social more so than 2 bong rips, obviously.

Def strain dependant.

eventually you will find that what you have learned is a gift, one to be shared, not hidden away.

takes some time to get past the frustration of being one of those that goes against the grain (mainstream), until you come to understand that it is not a guarantee that we find this understanding in our being but a miracle few of us are lucky enough to receive.

tune in, turn on, drop out, come back and share what you found

the days of them versus us will dissolve when we find out it is us versus ourselves in regards to our nature in relation to others (the battle for right and wrong is wagged within us all), and that we can employ synergy between others as easily as we can embrace self at another person's expense.

the thing is this, most people never get past fulfilling self to see anything else, so without an example they have no catalyst to learn.

People born with material needs satiated might not understand compassion for lack of having so they don't display empathy, but is it really a choice or a byproduct of environment? and if is environments are those around them not part of the landscape as well? so at which point does compassion become available to them because they see it others?

it is hard to be the one who sees the problem and also offers the olive branch but if you cant do this externally then the same conflict still exists internally, that is admonishment for some part of the human nature we all posses.

We can choose to use different facets of our nature, and ultimately there is no state any one of us is condemned to, unless we choose to condemn ourselves, because that is how it works in the end.

It all boils down to evolving cognitive biases and the removal thereof

Ive had wicked social anxiety since I was a kid, it effects my life and I am constantly challenging myslef not to be limited by it, because there seems no logic behind that action.

EDIT: So, I guess my answer is: yes, I think MJ makes me less socially interactive, on purpose.:Bolt::Bolt::Bolt:

depends on strain and person..
some make u lazy and hermit.. some make u crave good attention.. and interaction

Yep it depends on the strain. You should try different strains till you find the ones that work for you. Try to find more than one so you can rotate strains to keep your tolerance lower.

dont get me wrong, I too like the motorcycle, golf and fishing when buzzed, not staying at home. but these are for the most part mutually exclusive when it comes to 'chatting', you don't have to talk. Drinking alcohol is the harder task to keeping my mouth shut.

smoking weed makes one more outgoing, receptive to meeting new folks. GROWING weed is what makes one reluctant to meet new folks. just knowing that you are open to jail time for your hobby/way of life makes it uncomfortable to engage in open honest discussion...JMHO:tiphat:

Pretty much doing everything stoned is better. It helps me to stay in, eat well and stick to my fitness regime. Avoiding the evils of alcohol. It can be a bit anti social but you don't notice it so bad when your stoned.

It is still good to see friends though stoned or not. Depends on the friend I guess.

I think that when cannabis induce anxiety, there are 2 reasons or factors. First is your consciousness and second the subconsciousness. Thats why the set and setting is very important. But when facing the issue on subconsciousness level, it wont help. Cannabis will make the subconsciousness more visible, more strongly expressed. What are your deepest thoughts, is it really happiness, joy, calm? Are you confident inside, or are you hiding something, maybe there is something in the past that troubles you and you dont even know it consciously.
I see this on people who dont like to smoke anymore, i can see they are not secure or balanced in the "real" life and its more expressed when they are high.
Most of them stopped smoking, but that did not really fix the issue. It is just a temporary solution to bigger problem in my opinion. Others may realize that cannabis is really a teacher, but its hard lesson and not everybody can understand and find the solution. Well it gets definitely easier when one realize that the mind is just a tool and not the true Self.

Nice questioning, i think it's really different from a person to another one! Personally i love my smoke mostly sativa! Indica give me the creep!

Some friend can't support sativa as i do! They totally turn into a paranoiac montster when they smoke what i smoke! Fill me something really stoney and you lose me for next hour, hiding in a tree dealing with anxiety!

sometimes when i smoke indica dominant strain it makes me depressed but mostly silent couchlock whit major munchies, over flowered sativa can do the same but correctly grown near pure sativa makes me want to do something and interact whit others, though some sativas-indica hybrids have draw backs to couch lock after 3-4 hours from last hit. so usually puff sativa until i sleep and loop that everyday until i have smoked my stash, then il give good 3-6 month break and grow more - seems to work for me perfectly as i get those crazy giggles after every break, seems to do good whit my back nerve pains also.

I think me naturally being quiet and less than a social butterfly might predispose me to liking something like cannabis.
Being stoned makes me hyper aware of my feelings actions and to others as well. It makes conversation more difficult because I get side tracked.
Overall though I think as a young person you are making this connection to explain why you are that way and for me it turns out that it's just in my nature

If I smoke certain sativa blends I have grown, sometimes I can get very speedy like too much caffeine and I'll become aggressive and panicky and absolutely anti-social. Even the dog leaves the room.
However, in the same situation, a good indica or some hash oil has me helping old ladies, joking with strangers, and being perfectly social. When I thought about this post I was picturing the grocery store which is a perfect example. I freaking hate shopping and which weed I smoke before hand sets the tone for the day.

Problem is that when I sense my brain is in that SUPER ASSHOLE mode (I wonder if I am bi-polar because I definitely feel very different when it happens. I even get a weird lingering "aftertaste" when the freakout begins) and I really should smoke something to mellow me out I'm instead reaching for the sativa to take it to the next level. Crazy times.

i think its the person, if you were anti social before puffage you will be during and after.
If you are a jabber jaw, you will remain a jabber jaw, being anti social is how you were raised imo. puffing will definitely help you fall deeper into remaining a hermit..
