I know many people have it worse than my family at this point, but here is my rant.
How much do you (or family member) spend on prescriptions a year? way way way too much. my mother spends about $85 a month. that's a lot!
I thought we were in a "free society".....
I still don't understand how the government can mandate- that all citizens must carry health care. let alone pay the fees to a private, for profit, entity!!!!!!
how is this possible?
truly I am at a loss.
so we have to pay a monthly fee, a co-pay for each visit, a % of the overall cost,
but the real money is the medicine the prescribe you.
time to pay back the big pharma lobbyists back, the ones that helped to get u elected.
i don't have health care, fml, i cant afford $250 a month on my budget.
the 100 fine is more like a huge co-pay to me.
we will all be paying a lot more to these private companies over the next few years, this is just the start.
my rant.... Im sure most of you have similar stories
so my mom, 80, and retired, got sick 2 weeks ago. she is doing better now.
she worked for the gov for 25 years, retired with full coverage insurance. pretty nice.
the insurance pays for most of the costs. anyway, she is on a fixed income, as most retired people are. 5-6 doctor visits, $20 co-pay each time. multiply tests were ran to find the problem. Bleeding ulcer seems to be the problem, but nobody knows for sure, or where the bleeding is occurring. Great work!
she lost half the blood in her body, don't know where, how, why, or where it went. Great work!
blood transfusion was given and stabilized her condition. but could not find the source of the problem.
I understand some problems are hard to diagnose, but how can a doctor prescribe so many pills, and not know what the hell is going on with the patient.
my real problem is that my mother was left with an incomplete diagnosis, and has 10+ different pills she has to take daily over the next two weeks until her next visit. Trying to get a straight answer from a physician is impossible, they don't know!
we are not sure what is wrong, but you have to take all these pills to make sure nothing gets worse...?
so..... even with full insurance from the gov, my mothers last prescription list cost me $385.00. So her pills have cost me over $500 in the last two weeks, and they don't even know what the problem really is. a couple of these medications are not covered by insurance.
bet the pill companies are giving great kickbacks for each script filled. Most pills cost fractions of a penny to manufacture, yet they retail for $40. each. 20 each after insurance.
Im sure my situation doesn't even compare to many of yours.
best wishes,
