yes = I feed @ 6.0 - my soil stays at 7.0 - so when I feed at 6.0 as it drys it slowly gives it a healthy pH drift

i did when i first started growing...pita...now i water with distilled water. havent checked ph in years...my plants look better now. i also use lime, and soil is very forgiving

hmm you must feed at 6.0 to get 7 ph? Must be some thick soil or is that just normal.

Absolutely ALWAYS! Not only do I PH the nutes/water before watering, every second or third watering/feeding I test the PH of the runoff water that comes out of the bottom of the bucket. Thats the only way to know for sure whats happening at the root level. You may be watering with a PH of 7.0 and yet the runoff is testing in the low 5's!! I had this happen to me.

If you don't monitor your PH in soil many, many things can go awry and end up looking like a nutrient deficiency. The problem is that salts build up in the soil from all the nutes you have fed them and the soil can become quite acidic leaving you with nutrient lockouts because the PH is so low. This doesn't even take into consideration the problems with local tap water. Depending on where you live, tap water can be all over the map in terms of PH. My local water out of the tap tests between 8.5-9.5!! Needless to say, I've had to use PH Down to counteract this problem but I've also used about 2-3 cups of pulverized dolomite lime per 5 gallons of soil. This helps buffer the PH of the soil to a neutral of around 7.0 but you must continue to test throughout the grow as things have a tendency to change rather quickly if gone unchecked.

I used to and I suggest doing so but I haven't in quite some time. Like doc herbani said working with "Distilled Water", using well known ingredients in the medium and a practical feeding schedule have made it a moot point in my garden.

Yep, until youre in that comfort zone it pays to know what your levels are at. A ph meter is one of those tools when used right pays for itself in a crop or two. Every time you get a different source of water, medium, or different fert the first thing you should be asking yourself is how does that effect my base ph?

even if you don't pH every single time you water or feed you should still get a pH reading every now and then.....and especially if you switch to a new water source....this way you have some hard data if you begin to experience nutrient lockup and nute deficiencies.....

this is a very good poll and thread.....this is a great way to get lots of different angles on a very specific question which is perhaps the most important concept in understanding plant physiology and nutrition......one billion rep points!

now the next poll is.....which product do you use to raise/lower your pH?? -gp out

Some guy said he watered with 7.0 and got 5.0 out the bottom... Was this completely new soil you had never tried or had the ph in your soil just got that fucked up.

i've never experienced any sort of deficiency without correct PH.
when i start indoor 4 years ago i've follow all the advices who 's talk about correct ph on tap water or use osmotic and all the "blah blah blah" about it.

I THINK THAT'S ALL IDIOT CONCEPTS IF U USE A SERIOUS FERTILIZER MADE BY ENZIMATIC HYDROLISIS THAT CONTAIN A GOOD SOURCE OF BACTERIA ,ENZYMES AND ORGANIC ACIDS
AS HUMIC AND FULVIC.

BUT UNFORTUNATELY IN THE CANNABIS MARKETING THOSE TYPE OF PRODUCTS NOT EXISTS ...and u'll continue to correct PH and try to get perfect condition to a SPOILT PLANT just like a seek child followed by a doctor..

but cannabis is not this type of plant...cannabis is a strong plant ..and if u catch some good line of breeding u don't have to make any effort to have good results within good fertilizers.

i've jump the 1g per watt only when i've stop to correct the ph ...and those are mine 2 cents....CIAOOOOOO

During the tender seedling stage I think it's important to use Distilled water especially if yor using expensive//fine genetics but when the plants grow a strong root system I NEVER USE a PH meter in all of my years of growing pot weeds are hearty marijuana is a WEED not rocket science :2cents:

I voted no but do agree that you have to be familiar with all of your ingedients.

and if you don't have a tester yet, i bought a $10 one and it didn't work.

my water reads about 8.7.........

would this make a diff? :yoinks:

We all have different situations, let alone water..... :chin:

Let's keep those in mind... and "hep each other out. "
