Yeah? Well? I couldn't afford it so have been going without it. It is good, but it kinda sucks too because I miss my science channel shows and discovery ch. shows. :puppydoge

Internet is ok but it still isn't up to par with the quality of TV

I tried "Joost" and it's cool, it's like TV somewhat, but has bugs in it and is slow and unresponsive and overall sucks. Good idea, but it'll take some time to develop it. The internet sadly just doesn't have the kinda stuff I wanna see, like high quality nature shows and stuff like that. It's all youtube bullcrap low quality limited selection etc...But at the same time paying for TV sucks too so eh internet+movies for now

I'm in the same boat as you, journies. I had to make some sacrifices and my satellite had to go.

Used to have cable included in the rent but not anymore. It's like $50/month and I only watch maybe ten or so out of all the channels. Not really worth it, in my opinion. I do miss watching a few of the channels, though. TLC, Discovery, Animal Planet, History Channel and Comedy Central to name a few (if not almost all of them.) We have a (very) basic package available for like $10/mo but it's mostly just news, C-SPAN, weather and shop-at-home deals.

I sort of like the change, though. Now I get more time to research and browse online which saves electricity and keeps my mind more active. I do miss watching TV while I eat or late at night when I can't sleep.

I'd recommend getting a Netflix account, though. For $17 a month you can get three movies out at a time, unlimited rentals/month, no late fees, two week free trial and unlimited hours to view certain movies online. Their shipping is pretty quick, too. After you've watched your first three movies, you've basically already saved money compared to Blockbuster or whatever rental place is available. Not to mention the price of gas to drive to the rental store (about 10 minutes away for me.)

I love the history channel, the food network, the discovery channel, and national geographic.

I have a full digital line up, including the HD channels available. I also have the internet and VOIP through my cable company.

Yeah tv can mess with you. I said why pay for tv when you have the internet because....

You can pretty much download full quality tv shows through many websites. If growing marijuana isn't the only illegal thing you do I guess its a good idea to download your tv shows and movies you like too. The reason I like this too is because you can watch when you want and there are no stupid commercials.

The last two places I've lived, the cable company screwed up and left the cable hooked up, despite me never having ordered service. I engage in what they like to call "passive cable theft" :)
